Police Report: August 28

3700 block of 35th Street: At about 4:45 pm officers responded for the report of a residential burglary. Investigation revealed that person(s) unknown broke a small window in the back of the unoccupied residence that lead to a laundry room. Once inside the perpetrators kicked open a family room door and another basement door to gain entry into the rest of the home. The perpetrators stole numerous electronics items including a computer, DVD players, and a stereo system. Several items of jewelry were also taken. They then exited the home through the front door and fled the area. The residence was processed for latent prints with negative results. Witnesses told the officers that they saw two subjects at the door of the residence at about 8 am. They were described as a 17-20 year old black male, 5’7” tall, 160 lbs; and a black female, 5’5” tall and 140 lbs. Police Report: August 27

3700 block of 35th Street: At about 10 pm officers responded for the report of an attempted citizen armed robbery. The victim told the officers that when he got out of his vehicle in front of his residence he was approached by two black males in their late teens wearing dark clothing and ball caps. The teens produced a silver handgun and proceeded to go through the victim’s pockets but did not say anything to him. Once they realized that he did not have anything of value they simply walked away toward Otis Street and Eastern Avenue. A heavy search of the area was conducted with negative results. The victim was not harmed during the incident.

Police Report: August 26

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 9 pm officers on patrol observed a female subject in possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage. She was issued a criminal citation for the violation and released without incident. 2700 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 10 pm officers initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the driver of the vehicle had an open arrest warrant on file. He was taken into custody and transported to DOC in Hyattsville without incident. 3200 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 11:15 pm officers on patrol stopped a suspicious individual for a field interview. During the interview the officers discovered that the subject was in possession of CDS paraphernalia. Police Report: August 25

At about 10 am officers working the "all hands on deck" operation observed a vehicle run a stop sign and stopped that vehicle at 32nd and Varnum Streets. The vehicle was driven by an individual MRPD officers have arrested several times in the past on various drug charges. Further investigation lead to a consent search of the vehicle. During the search the officers discovered over a quarter pound of marijuana (street value of approximately $2,300) in the trunk. The driver was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a CDS. At about 2:15 pm officers working the "all hands on deck" operation attempted to stop and interview two suspicious individuals in a vehicle near the intersection of 30th Street and Arundel Road. Suspect Vehicle Recovery/Arrest

On Friday August 22nd a lookout was posted for a green 1994 Honda Accord with Maryland Chesapeake bay tags 59939 C/C. That vehicle was used in a burglary in the 4200 block of 30th Street, and is suspected to be involved in other burglaries in Mount Rainier and surrounding jurisdictions. I am pleased to report that at about 1:30 this afternoon officers working the “all hands on deck” operation located and recovered this vehicle near the intersection of Upshur Street and 28th Place. At the time of the recovery the vehicle was occupied by a black male who was arrested and charged with possession of the stolen vehicle along with other charges. Further investigation by MRPD, PGPD and Hyattsville PD will attempt to determine if he is responsible for or has participated in any of our recent burglaries. Police Report: August 22-24

Friday August 22: 3200 block of Chauncey Place : At about 10:00 pm officers were conducting routine patrols of the Queenstown Apartment complex when they observed three black males who appeared to be consuming alcoholic beverages in public. Further investigation revealed that one of the males had an open warrant. He was arrested without incident. The other males were sent on their way. 4000 block 34th Street : At about 1:30 am officers received a call for a domestic dispute. The caller stated that one of the participants was in a black Jeep. When the officers arrived they observed a black Jeep leaving the area. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. The driver was identified, found to have an open warrant and arrested without incident. The original dispute was found to have no merit. 3700 block of 37th Street : At about 1:30 am officers received a call for a purse snatching. Burglary This Morning

At about 9:15 this morning we received a call for a burglary in the 4700 block of 30th Street. Although our suspect was able to get away with several items from the residence, a neighbor got a good lookout for the guy and the car he was driving. Their descriptions are as follows: Vehicle : Green 1994 Honda Accord w/ Maryland tag 59939 C/C (Maryland Bay tag). The car was stolen from an address in Takoma Park on August 10th. Suspect : Dark skin black male, approximately 5’9” tall, heavy set, short hair, no facial hair, wearing a dark color t-shirt, jeans and red gloves. Residents are asked to be on the lookout for the vehicle and the suspect. Anyone who sees either one should call MRPD Communications at 301-985-6565/6566.

Police report: August 21

2900 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 7 am officers received a call from citizen who said that she had obtained an arrest warrant for an individual who was currently standing in front of her residence. When the officers arrived they met with the citizen who produced a copy of the warrant. The warrant was confirmed and the individual was arrested without incident and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3400 block of Newton Street: At about 8:30 am officers responded for the report of a stolen motorcycle. The victim told the officers that sometime during the evening/morning hours unknown suspect(s) stole his motorcycle. A check of area for witnesses/evidence was negative. At about 1 pm MRPD was notified that officers MPDC located and recovered the motorcycle 25th & E Streets NE. No arrests were made. 3200 block of Otis Street: At about 2 am officers responded for thereport of a theft from auto. The victim told the officers that sheheard a loud crash and when she looked out the window she observed ablack Nissan Maxima with a rear spoiler speeding away from her vehicle.She immediately went out to check on her car and discovered that thefront passenger side window was smashed out and several items had beenstolen from inside.
