Police Report: April 10-12

Friday April 10th:

33rd & Perry Streets: At about 10:15 am officers responded for the report of a man urinating in public. As the officers approached the area they saw the man described by the complainant throw four clear baggies of suspected crack cocaine into a grassy area. The officers detained the man and recovered the baggies. The contents were field tested and returned a positive result for cocaine. He was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

2200 block of Varnum Street: At about 2:50 pm officers investigated an individual for possibly selling counterfeit CDs. During their investigation they learned that the individual had an open warrant through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for driving on a revoked license. He was arrested on the open warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The counterfeit CD incident is still under investigation.

3300 block of Chillum Road: At about 4:50 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. While questioning the driver the officers learned that he had an open warrant through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear in court. A search of the driver incident to the warrant arrest revealed that he was on possession of a small quantity of marijuana. He was charged with possession of a CDS and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville without further incident.

3700 block of 35th Street: At about 6 pm officers responded for an attempted strong armed robbery. The victim told the officers that he was walking home when he was approached by four block males, one of whom asked him for a cigarette. When the victim replied that he didn’t have one the four began to assault him and tried to take is wallet. The victim was able to get away from his assailants and neighbors who heard the commotion called police. The four were described as teenagers ranging in age from 13 to 17 wearing white t-shirts, one of whom was wearing a white bandana on his wrist. A search of the area for the four proved negative. Saturday April 11th:

3800 block of 31st Street: At about 12:01 am officers responded for a domestic dispute. During their investigation a female participant became loud and disorderly and verbally abusive to the officers. She was told several times to calm down and leave the area or she would be arrested. She refused the officers’ requests and continued her disorderly behavior. She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4500 block of 31st Street: At about 5:25 am officers responded for the report of a motor vehicle theft. The owner told the officers that she came out to her silver 2001 Chrysler mini van, Maryland tags 89560HV to retrieve some clothing only to find that it had been stolen. The officers canvassed the area for evidence and witnesses with negative results.

3400 block of Eastern Avenue: At about 1:45 pm officers responded for the report of a residential burglary. The resident told the officers that when he returned home he noticed his door was cracked. A check of the residence revealed that the point of entry was through a basement door where the lock had been broken. The officers and the resident walked through the house and the resident determined that nothing had been stolen from inside. No evidence as to the person(s) responsible for the break-in could be found.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
