Police Report: August 17-18

August 17th:

3700 block of 35th Street: At about 12 pm officers investigating a prior burglary developed information on a possible suspect in the case and filed the appropriate supplement report. The investigation continues.

2300 block of Varnum Street: At about 1:30 pm officers took a report of a damaged parking meter. It appeared as if someone struck the meter with a motor vehicle resulting in a bent support pole and a cracked meter head. The meter has been marked for repairs.

3500 block of Perry Street: At about 6:20 pm officers took a report of a residential burglary that occurred sometime between 7 am and when the residents returned home from work. The officers’ investigation revealed that the perpetrators removed the outside screen and entered the kitchen through the interior window which had been left open. At the time of the report the residents were still trying to determine what items had been stolen. The house was processed for latent fingerprint evidence and the officers were able to locate and lift several prints. No other evidence or witnesses were found.

3600 block of Perry Street: At about 6:40 pm power shift officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that a passenger in the vehicle was in possession of 14.7 grams of marijuana. He was arrested, charged with CDS violations and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The driver was issued a traffic citation for the original violation and sent on his way without further incident.

One Municipal Place: At about 8:25 pm power shift officers observed an individual drinking from an open container of an alcoholic beverage. He was issued a criminal citation for the violation and sent on his way.

August 18 (early morning):

3200 block of Queenstown Drive: At about 1:10 am officers responded for the report of a suspicious vehicle with the occupants possibly smoking marijuana. When the officers arrived they located the suspect vehicle and its passengers. When they approached the vehicle to investigate they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside. Both the driver and a front seat passenger were removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. The officers recovered a small quantity of marijuana from the driver’s seat and floor. A search of the passenger revealed a small quantity of marijuana in his front pants pocket. Both were charged with CDS violations and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The vehicle was impounded.

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
