Police Report: January 17-18

January 17th:

4200 block of 28th Street: Assault – 12:05 am. The investigation revealed that a woman had left her two children with a man and woman with whom she was acquainted. When the woman failed to contact the couple or her children after several days the couple notified Child Protective Services. CPS contacted the mother about the incident and began an investigation. The mother angered that the couple contacted CPS, came to their home, produced a knife and tried to stab the woman. When the man intervened he sustained a 4” laceration to his bicep. The assailant fled the scene before police arrived. The man was transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for treatment of his wound. MRPD officers and PGPD detectives responded to the hospital to interview the victim. Based on that interview a warrant was obtained for the woman’s arrest charging her with 1st degree assault. She remains at large at the time of this report.

4200 block of 31st Street: Recovered stolen auto – 5 pm. A Pennsylvania State Police Trooper contacted MRPD officers and reported that he had recovered a 1997 Honda Civic that was reported stolen from the 4200 block of 31st Street on October 5th, 2010. The vehicle was recovered near Mansfield, PA and impounded for safekeeping by PSP.

4000 block of 34th Street: Traffic stop/vehicle impound – 11:30 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and learned that the vehicle’s registration was suspended. The driver was issued several traffic citations and the vehicle was impounded.

January 18th:

29th Street at Bunker Hill Road: Assault – 10:40 am. The victim told the officers that she was approached by black four door car driven by an Hispanic male. She said that the man harassed her when she responded by showing him her middle finger he drove off. A short time later the man drove by the victim again this time pointing a silver handgun at her. He announced that should the victim show her middle finger to him again he would shoot her. He then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Vandalism – 2:30 pm. Officers received information from the business owner that someone had spray painted the word “Solar” on the alley side of the building. The building was photographed for further investigation and Public Works was notified to remove the paint.

3300 block of Perry Street: Recovered stolen auto – 3:15 pm. Officers were called to the area to investigate a suspicious vehicle. The officers located the vehicle in question, a 1997 Honda Civic with Maryland tags and observed that its ignition was damaged. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from an address in Hyattsville on January 13th. Hyattsville PD was notified of the recovery and the vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

3700 block of Rhode Island AvenueTraffic stop/vehicle impound – 11:55 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and learned that the registration was suspended and there was an MVA pick-up order on the tags. The officers also observed three open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle. The driver was issued several citations and the vehicle was impounded.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
