Police Report: February 4-6

February 4th:

3800 block of 34th Street: Drinking in public – 5:05 pm. Officers discovered four individuals consuming alcoholic beverages inside a parked motor vehicle. All four were issued criminal citations for the violation and sent on their way.

February 5th:

3100 block of Bunker Hill Road: Theft from auto – 1 pm. The owner of 2004 Nissan Maxima reported that someone stole the rear tag off her vehicle (Maryland tag MNT377).

3300 block of Chillum Road: Theft from auto – 11:50 pm. The owner of a 2007 Hyundai Sonata reported that someone stole the rear tag off her vehicle (Maryland 9DGT09).

February 6th:

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Assault – 12:20 am. Officers responded to a possible domestic assault in progress. When they arrived they located a man suffering from injuries to his face, legs and hands. Fire/rescue personnel were summoned to treat the man’s injuries. The officers learned from witnesses that the victim was outside with two friends when he got into a verbal altercation with one of the two. The altercation escalated into a physical fight and the victim sustained his injuries in that fight. The victim refused to speak with the officers, declined to name the person who assaulted him and did not want to pursue the matter any further. He was left to the care of fire/rescue personnel.

4600 block of 27th Street: Tampering – 6:20 am. Officers responded for the report of a motor vehicle tampering in progress. The victim told the officers that she was out walking her dog when she heard the sound of glass breaking. When she went to investigate she saw a black male and a black female dressed in dark clothing that had broken the window to her vehicle and were rummaging through the interior. The victim went back to her residence to call police. By the time officers arrived the two suspects had fled the scene in an unknown direction. Nothing was found missing from inside the victim’s vehicle.

4600 block of 34th Street: Theft from auto – 9:40 am. The owner of a 2008 Chevy Cobalt reported that someone stole the rear tag off her vehicle (Maryland 1DTV67).

The following information  comes courtesy  of the  New Jersey Cybersecurity & Communications Integration Cell Public cell phone charging stations supplied with power cables or USB ports located in stores, airports, libraries, and schools may seem like a convenient way to charge your mobile devices on-the-go, but can you be sure that your device and data will be safe if you connect? These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
