Police Report: April 13-14

April 13th : Other than a mutual aid incident that occurred at 5:30 am and previously reported there was nothing significant to report. April 14th (early morning) : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : Warrant/narcotics arrest – 12:10 am. Officers conducting a premises check of the BP station observed a 2003 Chevy Tahoe at the gas pump for an extended period of time. An MVA check of the vehicle’s registration revealed that the registered owner had an open warrant out of Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving while suspended. The officers identified the driver as the registered owner and arrested him on the open warrant. A search of his person incident to the arrest revealed that he was in possession of marijuana and crack cocaine. He was charged with the narcotics crimes and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Police report: April 12-13

April 12th : 3700 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Emergency petition – 12:15 pm. Officers responded for the report of a man in front of the post office acting disorderly and removing his clothes. When the officers arrived they located and detained the partially clothed man. Further investigation revealed that the man was under the influence of PCP and had assaulted three passengers on a metro bus. He was taken into custody and delivered to the custody of the medical staff at Washington Adventist Hospital for an emergency psychiatric evaluation. Metro Transit Police officers responded to the scene to investigate potential charges against the man for assaulting the bus passengers. Actual charges are pending Metro Transit’s investigation. 3300 block of Buchanan Street : Attempt stolen auto – 4:20 pm. Police Report: April 11

4600 block of 31 st Street : Narcotics arrest – 7:40 pm. Officers responded for the report of a suspicious subject smoking CDS in the park. When the officers arrived they located the man in question and stopped him for a field interview. During the interview the officers discovered that he was in possession of approximately 11 grams of marijuana. He was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Police Report: April 8-10

April 8th : 2700 block of Allison Street : Stolen vehicle – 8:20 am. The owner of a 1997 Plymouth Voyager told officers that he parked and secured his van on April 7th at about 8:30 pm. He returned for the vehicle this morning to discover that it had been stolen. At about 3:50 pm the vehicle was recovered by DC Police in the 600 block of Jefferson Street NE. No arrests were made. 3300 block of Chillum Road : 1st degree assault – 10:55 pm. Officers initially responded for the report of a pedestrian struck. When they spoke to the victim she said that she had borrowed some money from a friend who came by her house to be repaid. The victim met her friend outside her home and as the victim turned to go back inside to get the money her friend ran into her with the green minivan she was driving. 4300 block of Kaywood Drive : Stolen vehicle – 8:30 am. The owner of a silver 2003 Ford E-350 van (Virginia tag XEY1525) reported that sometime during the evening/morning hours someone stole his vehicle. 3800 block of 34th Street : Alcohol violation – 6:20 pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for consuming an alcoholic beverage in public.

Police Report: April 6

3300 block of Chauncey Place : Missing person – 11:45 am. A family member told officers that an adult male relative was released from drug rehab on April 1st and was last seen on April 4th. Since then he has not returned home or contacted family members. Officers also learned that the missing person has an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a traffic charge. The missing person’s information was entered into the NCIC missing persons database. 3700 block of 35th Street : Theft from auto – 11:25 am. The owner of a 1998 Ford Expedition told officers that sometime between the hours of 3:45 am and 11 am someone broke the rear passenger window, entered the vehicle and stole a stereo radio. 3300 block of Chauncey Place : Warrant arrest – found missing person – 7 pm. Police Report: April 5

4000 block of 31st Street : Warrant arrest – 6:55 am. Officers received information that an individual wanted by MRPD on two active criminal arrest warrants was at a private residence. Officers responded to the address, arrested the man and delivered him to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. Queenstown Drive and Chauncey Place : Hit and run collision – 8:30 am. Officers spoke with the owner of a 2009 Nissan Murano who told them that sometime during the night her vehicle was struck by another vehicle that failed to remain at the scene. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Alcohol violation – 9 am. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for consuming an alcoholic beverage in public. Chillum Road and Queens Chapel Road : Narcotics arrest – 8:30 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was in possession of crack cocaine. She was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyatt

Police Report: April 4-5

April 4th : 3800 block of 34th Street : Warrant arrest – 2:45 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failure to appear in court on a traffic related offense. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Theft from auto – 7:40 pm. The victim told the officers that she went into the Family Dollar to do some shopping. When she returned to her car she discovered that someone had broken the passenger side window with a rock and stole her Sony Vaio laptop. 37th and Newton Streets : Recovered stolen auto – 8 pm. Officers responded for the report of an abandoned vehicle. They located a 1996 Infinity parked and unoccupied in the roadway. A check of the vehicle revealed that it was reported stolen from an address in Prince George’s County on March 29th. The vehicle was impounded for safekeep

Police Report: April 1-3

April 1st : 3800 block of 34th Street : Alcohol violation – 9:30 am. Officers issued two individuals criminal citations for drinking alcoholic beverages in public. 3800 block of 34th Street : Suspicious person – 10:15 am. Officers responded for the report of an armed individual. The officers arrived and located the individual described by the complainant and found him in possession of an unloaded BB gun. The gun was unloaded and was non-functional. The gun was seized and the individual released. Criminal charges are pending consultation with the State’s Attorney’s Office. 4700 block of 27th Street : Vandalism to auto – 11:25 am. The owner of a 1995 Nissan Maxima told officers that sometime during the previous evening/morning hours someone broke the right front passenger window of his vehicle. 4200 block of 30th Street : Theft from auto – 1 pm. Police Report: March 30

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Criminal citation – 8:55 am. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for consuming an alcoholic beverage in public. 3300 block of Shepherd Street : Vandalism to auto – 1:30 pm. The owner of a 1998 Infinity reported that sometime between 8 pm on March 30th and the time of the report someone slashed three of her tires. No evidence/witnesses were identified. 2300 block of Varnum Street (7-11) : Theft – 9:10 pm. Officers spoke with a store clerk who said that two men came into the store and filled their arms with merchandise from various locations. The two then passed all points of sale without paying for the items. Officers reviewed surveillance camera video and recognized one of the subjects from a previous 7-11 theft. They were able to contact the suspect by phone and get him to return to the City whereupon he was arrested, charged with theft and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.
