Police Report: Week of May 15-21

May 15th:

2300 block of Arundel Road: Warrant arrest – 12:15 am. Officers arrested a man who had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for multiple traffic violations.

2300 block of Arundel Road: Criminal citation – 8:15 pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public.

May 16th:

4000 block of 34th Street: Theft from auto – 10:15 am. The owner of a 2003 Toyota reported the theft of two cell phones from inside his vehicle.

One Municipal Place: Criminal citation – 12:45 pm. Officers issued a woman a criminal citation for urinating in public.

2200 block of Varnum Street: Warrant arrest – 5:30 pm. Officers arrested a man on an open arrest warrant. A search of his person incident to arrest revealed that he was in possession of marijuana. In addition to the warrant he was charged with possession of a CDS.

May 17th:

4200 block of 34th Street: Theft from auto – 12 pm. The owner of a 2009 Toyota reported that sometime between May 12th and the time of the report someone stole a Garmin GPS unit and a quantity of US currency from inside her vehicle.

May 18th:

3400 block of Newton Street: Emergency petition – 11:55 am. Officers responded for the report of a suicidal individual. They discovered him with blood on his hands and in a delusional state. He was transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for medical treatment and an emergency psychological examination.

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Theft – 6:50 pm. Officers stopped a man riding a 2008 Yamaha scooter. Further investigation revealed that the scooter had been reported stolen from an address in Prince George’s County outside the City. The man was arrested for theft and the scooter’s owner was notified of the recovery.

May 19th:

3100 block of Chillum Road: Warrant arrest – 1:35 am. Officers arrested a passenger in a motor vehicle who had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license.

3800 block of 34th Street: Criminal citation – 3:30 pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public.

4300 block of Russell Avenue: Attempted burglary – 10:50 pm. A resident reported seeing a black male described as having shoulder length dreads and dressed in all black tampering with her dining room window. The suspect removed screen in an attempt to get inside the apartment but was scared away by the resident.

May 20th:

2500 block of Queens Chapel Road: Unattended child – 2:35 pm. Officers received a call for a small child walking alone in the apartment complex. Upon further investigation the officers learned that the child was four years of age and was left unattended for several hours on a regular basis by her parents. The child was released to a family member and Child Protective Services was notified.

May 21st:

Russell Avenue and Arundel Road: Traffic/vehicle impound – 1:25 am. Officers impounded a 2002 Pontiac grand Prix after discovering that its driver did not have a license.

3700 block of 34th Street: Emergency petition – 6:30 pm. Officers on patrol discovered a man standing naked in the street masturbating. When they approached to take him into custody they saw that he was delusional and likely under the influence of PCP. Officers were forced to deploy a Taser weapon to get him under control and in custody. He was transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for emergency treatment.

4600 block of 29th Street: Warrant arrest -7:40 pm. Officers arrested a man who they discovered had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for possession of CDS.

2900 block of Allison Street: Hit and run collision – 7:40 pm. The owner of a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero reported that another vehicle struck his vehicle’s bumper causing very minor damage.

35th and Perry Streets: Criminal citation – 9:10 pm. Officers issued two men criminal citations for drinking in public.

Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road: Warrant arrest – 10:20 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver was found to have an open arrest warrant for failing to appear in court. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Police Report: May 8-14

May 8th:

3700 block of Bunker Hill Road: Theft from auto – 10:50 am. The owner of a 2007 Honda Pilot reported that someone broke out the driver’s side window and stole a Pioneer GPS/DVD player.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Domestic assault – 7:45 pm. A man was arrested for 2nd degree domestic assault after striking his female partner during an argument.

May 9th:

37th Street and Rhode Island Avenue: Warrant arrest – 5:20 pm. A man was arrested on an open arrest warrant issued through Montgomery County for violation of a peace order.

3300 block of Chauncey Place: Vandalism to auto – 11:25 am. The owner of a 2002 Volkswagen reported that someone scratched profanity on the vehicle’s hood, driver’s side door and rear quarter panel.

3500 block of 37th Street: Warrant arrest – 10:25 pm. Officers arrested a man who had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license.

May 10th:

4501 Eastern Avenue (BP station): Stolen auto – 7:30 am. The owner of a 2001 BMW reported that while he was putting air in his tires someone got into his vehicle, started the engine and drove away.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Vehicle impound – 9 pm. Officers impounded a 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo because the vehicle’s registration plates were expired.

May 11th:

3300 block of Chillum Road (7-11): Theft – 3:55 am. The night clerk reported that a black male with dark skin, approximately 40-50 years of age, 5’-10” tall, 250 lbs., wearing blue jeans and a grey hoodie came into the store, went behind the counter and stole approximately 10-12 packs of cigarettes and four rolls of lottery tickets.

32nd and Perry Streets: Motor vehicle collision – 8 am. A tractor trailer was attempting to navigate down a residential street when the trailer struck some low hanging cable wires. One of the wires was sheared off and struck a five year old child who was standing on his front porch. The child sustained a deep laceration to his eye and was transported to Children’s Hospital for treatment.

4400 block of 29th Street: Theft from auto – 10 am. The owner of a 1993 Toyota Tercel reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a Coach handbag and a Coach purse.

4400 block of 29th Street: Theft – 10 am. A man reported that someone stole his bicycle from inside an unlocked storage unit.

4200 block of 34th Street: Vandalism – 1 pm. Officers took a report of graffiti spray painted on a fence. The graffiti was photographed and officers determined that it is not gang related.

2700 block of Queens Chapel Road: Traffic – 8:40 pm. Officers issued a man several traffic citations including one for driving without a license. His vehicle was impounded.

4200 block of 30th Street: Residential burglary – 8:45 pm. The homeowner reported that she left home at about 1:30 pm and when she returned she discovered the rear door to the residence broken and slightly ajar. The owner found that several rooms had been ransacked and numerous personal items stolen.

May 12th:

28th Street at Eastern Avenue: Stolen auto – 7 am. The owner of a 1996 Chevy Impala told officers that he parked his vehicle by his residence at about 10 pm on May 11th. At about 6:55 this morning he received a text from a friend telling him that he saw his car at 28th and Eastern Avenue. The victim went to investigate and determined that someone stole his car but didn’t get too far with it. The vehicle was recovered with damage to the steering column and driver’s side door lock.

4600 block of 27th Street: Residential burglary – 10:25 am. The homeowner told officers that she left her home secure and intact on May 11th at about 9:30 am. When she returned home she discovered her house had been ransacked and several items of her personal property had been stolen. There were no signs of forced entry and the victim stated that the top door lock was left unsecured.

4300 block of 28th Place: Vandalism to auto – 5 pm. The owner of a 2003 Chevy truck reported that someone broke out the rear window. Nothing was stolen from inside the truck and no other damage was found.

May 13th:

3300 block of Chauncey Place: CDS arrest – 12:20 am. Officers observed three individuals sitting in double parked vehicle in an area known for drug complaints. The officers conducted field interviews on the occupants and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming inside of the vehicle. The driver told officers he and his friends had just smoked marijuana but there were no drugs on his person or inside the vehicle. Officers searched the all the occupants and no drugs were found. However, the officers discovered a large glass bottle filled with PCP inside the driver’s door. All occupants were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Disorderly conduct – 1:30 pm. Officers observed a man and a woman engaged in a domestic argument. Officers made several attempts to get the man to calm down but he continued to yell and curse loudly. Officers arrested him and charged him with disorderly conduct.

3200 block of Queenstown Drive: Assault – 3 pm. Two students attacked a third student as the result of a dispute earlier in the day at school. The victim’s mother was able to break up the assault. The victim’s attackers were referred to Juvenile Services for charges.

May 14th:

4400 block of 28th Street: Weapons possession – 2 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation (possible DUI/DWI). Officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and the driver admitted to smoking marijuana earlier. Further investigation revealed that there was a loaded handgun inside the passenger compartment and a fully loaded assault-type weapon in the trunk. Both weapons were seized along with a small amount of marijuana. The driver was arrested and charged with several weapons and CDS crimes. The vehicle was impounded.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Vandalism to auto – 11:50 pm. The owner of a 1997 Cadillac Escalade reported that he witnessed an individual puncture two of his tires. The victim was referred to a District Court Commissioner to obtain a warrant.

Police Report: May 4-7

May 4th:

4000 block of 37th Street: Theft – 6:45 am. A black Schwinn Ranger 6.2FS bicycle was stolen off a back porch.

May 5th:

3200 block of Queenstown Drive: Vehicle impound – 1:30 am. A 1999 Toyota truck was impounded because the driver did not possess a valid license.

4400 block of 29th Street: Warrant arrest – 2:05 am. After a traffic stop a man was arrested on an open warrant from Montgomery County for failing to appear in court on a charge of CDS possession.

3300 block of Chillum Road: Vehicle impound – 9:30 am. A 2001 Dodge Caravan was impounded because the registration was suspended and the driver’s license was also suspended.

4100 block of 31st Street: Domestic – 10:55 am. A man was arrested for violating a domestic protection order.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Criminal citation – 7:40 pm. A man was issued a criminal citation for drinking in public.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Traffic – 10:20 pm. A driver was cited for driving without a license and his vehicle was impounded.

May 6th:

3300 block of Buchanan Street: Theft from auto – 8:05 am. The owner of a 2004 Cadillac Escalade reported the theft of all four wheels and tires from his vehicle.

4100 block of 31st Street: Theft – 10:45 am. The victim reported the theft of a television from an upstairs bedroom. A relative was identified as the thief and the TV was recovered at a local pawn shop. Charges are pending.

4200 block of 32nd Street: Emergency petition – 9:05 pm. A man under the influence of PCP was transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

4200 block of 28th Place: Criminal citation – A man was issued a criminal citation for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Rhode Island Avenue and Eastern Avenue: Warrant arrest – 11:45 pm. A man was arrested on an open arrest warrant issued through Prince George’s county for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license. His vehicle was impounded.

May 7th:

4300 block of Russell Avenue: Assault/warrant arrest – 1:50 am. A man was arrested for assaulting an MRPD officer who was trying to disburse a disorderly group. Further investigation revealed that the man had four open arrest warrants through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for traffic offenses, CDS possession, and possession of a handgun.

4300 block of Russell Avenue: Warrant arrest – 2:20 am. A man was arrested on an open warrant issued through Prince George’s County for 2nd degree assault.

31st Street and Bunker Hill Road: Theft from auto – 1:05 pm. The owner of a 2007 Honda Accord reported the theft of several personal items from inside his car.

Police Report: May 3

4200 block of 34th Street: Unfounded vandalism – 7 pm. Officers responded for the report of vandalism. The officers spoke with a resident who believed that a broken window in his apartment was caused by an act of vandalism. The officers determined that the window was actually broken by overgrown shrubs and not by a criminal act.

Police Report: May 2-3

May 2nd:

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Theft over $500 – 11:10 am. The victim told officers that she was missing a large sum of money from her bank account. Further investigation revealed that the victim’s granddaughter was withdrawing funds from the account without authorization. Charges against the granddaughter are pending.

2700 block of Webster Street: Stolen vehicle – 3:20 pm. The owner of a 1999 Ford F-450 truck told officers that he parked his truck in front of his sister’s apartment at about 6 pm on May 1st. When he returned to the vehicle this afternoon he discovered that it had been stolen.

30th and Allison Streets: Narcotics arrest – 8:20 pm. Officers stopped a 2006 Nissan Altima for multiple traffic violations. Further investigation revealed that the driver and passenger were both in possession of marijuana. They were attested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

May 3rd (early morning):

4300 block of Kaywood Drive: Attempt burglary – 5:45 am. Officers responded for the report of a residential burglary in progress. When they arrived they were met by the resident who told them that someone was trying to gain access to her apartment through a back window. Further investigation revealed that someone used a gutter rain drip pad made out of concrete and propped it against the building. The suspect then climbed on top of it and removed the victim’s screen. The victim yelled at the suspect causing him/her to abandon the break in and flee the area. No additional evidence was identified.

Police Report: April 14-15

April 14th:

3200 block of Queenstown Drive: Vandalism – 7:50 pm. The resident told officers that his younger son was sitting in the living room when a rock was thrown through the living room window. The son ran to the window and observed an unknown black male running away between the buildings.

4200 block of Rainier Avenue: Motor vehicle collision – 9:30 pm. Officers responded for the report of a multiple vehicle collision. Their investigation revealed that the driver of the at fault vehicle failed to pay full time and attention to his driving and was driving at a speed greater than reasonable and prudent for the road conditions. As a result the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck two parked cars. The driver was issued three State traffic citations and his vehicle was impounded. The owners of the parked vehicles were notified.

April 15th:

4200 block of 34th Street: Fraud – 10 am. Officers interviewed the victim of a mortgage scam and learned that on March 7th he received a phone call from a representative of the US Document Prep company. The representative told the victim that the company could lower his mortgage payment. They requested an upfront fee of $695.00 via an electronic check for their services. The complainant provided them with his bank account and routing number for the transaction. A follow-up appointment was scheduled but no one from the company showed up. When the victim attempted to contact the company at the phone number they gave him the number was no longer in service. Officers searched online for US Document Prep and discovered that the company was listed with the Better Business Bureau as receiving multiple fraud complaints. A copy of MRPD’s fraud report was sent to the PGPD Financial Crimes Unit for follow up.

4200 block of 32nd Street: Theft from auto – 10:55 am. Officers received an e-mail from a resident stating that he found two purses and their contents scattered along the 4200 block of 32nd Street. Officers responded to take custody of the items and were able to ascertain the owner’s information and notify her that her property had been recovered. The owner told the officers that she parked her vehicle across the street from her residence at about 11 pm the previous evening but didn’t remember if she locked it. The officers found the vehicle and observed that both passenger side doors were slightly ajar but no signs of forced entry. The victim stated that several items had been stolen from inside the car. The officers were able to obtain two latent prints from the vehicle’s doors but neither provided enough detail for identification.

Police Report: April 16

2900 block of Arundel Road: Traffic – 10:20 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a license. He was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3800 block of 34th Street: Traffic – 2:30 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a license. The co-owner of the vehicle who was a passenger in the vehicle also did not have a license. The driver was issued the appropriate State citations and the vehicle was impounded.

Police Report: April 17

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Warrant arrest – 1:45 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that a passenger in the vehicle had an open arrest warrant through Montgomery County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4300 block of Russell Avenue: Criminal citation – 2:50 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed an open container of an alcoholic beverage accessible to the driver and he had a suspended license. The driver was issued a criminal citation for the alcohol violation and a State citation for driving on a suspended license.

3300 block of Otis Street: Theft from auto – 7 am. The owner of a 2005 Pontiac Montana told officers that he filled his gas tank the previous evening at around 10 pm. When he returned to his vehicle this morning he discovered that the vehicle’s gas cap was unsecured and there was only ¾ of a tank of gas. No evidence or witnesses to the theft could be located.

3700 block of 36th Street: Warrant application. On April 12th officers took a man into custody for an emergency psychiatric evaluation. He was under the influence of PCP and had been running naked through the streets banging on residents’ doors and parked vehicles. Today the officers applied for and received an arrest warrant charging him with 2nd degree assault; fail to obey a lawful order; and disorderly conduct.

Police Report: April 18

4000 block of 35th Street: Warrant arrest – 8 pm. Officers on patrol observed an individual who they knew had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for possession with the intent to distribute narcotics and violation of probation. The individual was arrested without incident and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4000 block of 36th Street: Child abuse/neglect – 11:15 pm. Officers were flagged down by a man who reported finding his four year old daughter left unattended locked in an apartment. Further investigation revealed that the child’s mother left the little girl alone in an apartment so she could go out to a night club. Officers contacted the mother and requested that she return to the apartment. When she arrived she was arrested and charged with child abuse and leaving her child unattended. The child was not injured and was in good health. Child protective services was contacted and will be conducting their own investigation.

Police Report: April 19-20

April 19th:

3700 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Warrant arrest – 12:15 am. Officers observed an individual with whom they have had repeated contacts in the past. The officers checked the man for warrants and learned that he had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license. The officers stopped and arrested and delivered him to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4300 block of Newton Place: Hit and run motor vehicle collision/narcotics arrest – 1:34 am. Officers responded for the report of a man down. Upon arrival they discovered a man lying on the ground complaining of injuries from being struck by a vehicle. The officers also found a parked Nissan Xterra with damage consistent with a hit and run collision. The officers’ investigation revealed that the incident resulted from a drug deal gone awry. The “victim” (the man struck by a vehicle) was trying to sell PCP dipped cigarettes and collect funds from the driver of a Nissan Titan pick-up truck. The driver of the Titan elected not to pay for the cigarettes and drove off at a high rate of speed with the victim (seller) hanging on to the passenger door. As the truck passed the aforementioned Nissan Xterra the victim crashed into the Xterra’s driver’s side mirror and was thrown to the ground approximately where the officers found him when they arrived. The victim was transported to Prince George’s Hospital for treatment of his non life threatening injuries. A short time later, officers observed and stopped the Nissan Titan on 34th Street near Eastern Avenue. A passenger in the Titan was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and arrested. The driver was arrested for hit and run. The Titan was impounded.

April 20th (early morning):

Rhode Island Avenue and Eastern Avenue: Warrant arrest – 1:35 am. Officers stopped an individual for a field interview. They discovered that he had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Police Report: April 20

38th and Quincy Streets: Narcotics/warrant arrest – 7:15 pm. Officers stopped a 2000 Mazda for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that both the driver and his passenger had open arrest warrants through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on charges of driving without a license. The two were removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest for the warrants. A search incident to arrest revealed that both men were in possession of marijuana with a collective weight of 12.4 grams. The two were charged with possession of marijuana and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Police Report: April 21st

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Hit and run motor vehicle collision – 11:35 am. The driver of a 2006 Honda truck told officers that as she was slowing down to enter the traffic circle she was rear ended by a Ford pickup truck. After the collision the Ford truck fled the scene north on Rhode Island Avenue. The victim’s vehicle sustained only minor damage and was drivable after the collision. The driver of the Ford truck could not be located.

3300 block of Buchanan Street: Stolen auto – 12 pm. The owner of a 1999 Dodge Intrepid reported that his vehicle was stolen on April 17th. He was unable to report the theft on the day that it occurred because he had just purchased the vehicle at an auction and all of the vehicle’s identifying paperwork was in the vehicle when it was stolen.

4200 block of 31st Street: Attempt theft from auto - 11:25 am. The owner of a 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup truck reported that someone entered his truck through the driver’s door. He said that the vehicle had been ransacked but nothing was missing from inside.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Domestic assault – 2:25 pm. The victim told officers that she went to her former boyfriend’s residence to retrieve some of her personal property. The boyfriend was upset that the victim was breaking off the relationship and physically assaulted her. Attempts to locate the boyfriend were negative. The officers transported the victim to the District Court Commissioner’s Office in Hyattsville so that she could obtain a protective order and an arrest warrant for the boyfriend.

4000 block of 30th Street: Theft of tags – 4:50 pm. The owner of a homemade utility trailer told officers that sometime between 10 am and 4 pm someone stole the license plate off the trailer.

Police Report: April 22

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Disorderly conduct – 1:50 pm. Officers stopped a suspicious man for a field interview. While the officers attempted to talk with him he became increasingly hostile and vulgar. The officers got him to calm down temporarily but after he moved along down the street a couple blocks he began to repeatedly curse and yell profanity at passersby. He was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4000 block of 31st Street: Theft from auto – 3:15 pm. The owner of a 2006 Ford F-150 truck told officers that sometime between 3 pm on the 19th and today someone entered his unlocked truck and stole a GPS unit and some loose change.

Police Report: April 23

4300 block of 31st Street: Hit and run motor vehicle collision – 1 am. The reporting person told officers that as he was driving his car at the intersection of Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road he was rear ended by a 2000 Lexis. The striking vehicle immediately fled the scene and the victim followed. In the 4300 block of 31st Street the Lexis crashed into the front of a house. After the crash three African American males wearing all dark clothing were seen running from the vehicle. A Prince George’s County fire marshal responded and determined that there was only minor damage to the front porch and no major structural damage to the residence. The Lexis was impounded.

34th and Shepherd Streets: DWI arrest – 2:10 pm. Officers responded for the report of a hit and run motor vehicle collision. The officers obtained a description of the striking vehicle and located the vehicle a short distance away. When they interviewed the driver they discovered that she was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. Her vehicle was impounded.

4400 block of 28th Place: Domestic assault – 3:45 pm. Officers responded to investigate a 911 hang-up. Upon arrival they determined that a domestic assault had occurred and the male assailant had fled the area. The officers assisted the victim with obtaining a protective order against the suspect. They also secured an arrest warrant for assault and theft against the suspect. The suspect was contacted several times via phone however he would not turn himself in. A search for the man is continuing.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Emergency petition – 3:45 pm. Officers responded for the report of a woman down at the bus terminal. When they arrived they discovered a woman in her 30’s lying on the ground intoxicated and incoherent. Fire/rescue personnel responded, evaluated the woman and transported her to Washington Adventist Hospital where she could be medically and psychologically evaluated.

4200 block of Kaywood Drive: Citizen robbery/warrant service – 6:50 pm. Officers responded for the report of a man down. When they arrived they found the man lying on the ground with injuries to his face. He told the officers that he was unaware of how he was injured or why he was lying there. Further investigation revealed that the man had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was arrested on the warrant and transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for medical treatment. Later on the man’s memory returned and he told officers that earlier he was sitting on his vehicle in the 4200 block of Kaywood Drive when he was approached by two black males. One of the males produced a handgun and demanded his cell phone and wallet. The victim complied and walked away. As he was walking away the suspects ordered him to the ground where they kicked him in the face rendering him unconscious. PGPD robbery detectives responded to the hospital to assume a follow-up investigation.

Chillum Road and Queens Chapel Road: Assault – 8 pm. Officers observed two subjects who matched the description of two individuals involved in an armed robbery outside the City. When the officers approached to question the two they immediately fled on bicycles. The officers began a foot chase for the two and observed that one of them fall off his bicycle. When the officers caught up to the fallen rider he punched one officer in the throat and chest and was able to get away and continue his flight. The suspect jumped down a 15 foot embankment into a creek bed where the officers were able to finally subdue him by deploying an Taser weapon. He was arrested and transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for treatment of the minor injuries he suffered from the jump down the embankment. Once he was released from the hospital he was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. He was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and other charges.

Police Report: April 24

2400 block of Chillum Road: DWI arrest – 2:35 am. Officers patrolling the area observed a 2005 BMW traveling at a high rate of speed lose control and strike a curb. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and charged with DUI and other traffic violations. The vehicle which was disabled from striking the curb was impounded.

31st Street and Bunker Hill Road: Vandalism to auto – 8:20 am. The owner of a 2006 Honda Accord told officers that he parked and secured his vehicle at about midnight. When he returned for the vehicle this morning he discovered that someone had smashed out the front passenger window.

3200 block of Shepherd Street: Theft from auto – 9:15 am. The owner of a 2005 Honda Civic told officers that he parked and secured his vehicle at about midnight. When he returned for the vehicle this morning he discovered that someone had smashed out the rear passenger window. The victim said that the vehicle had been ransacked and assorted U.S currency (change) was taken from inside.

3200 block of Bunker Hill Road: Theft from auto – 11:35 am. The owner of a 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo told officers that she parked and secured her vehicle at about 4am. When she returned for the vehicle this morning she discovered that someone had smashed out the rear driver’s side window. The victim said that the vehicle had been ransacked and her Sony in-dash radio and an Apple iPod were stolen.

3800 block of 31st Street: Vandalism to auto – 11:40 am. The owner of a 2004 Toyota Prius told officers that she parked and secured her vehicle at about 8 pm on April 23rd. When she returned for the vehicle this morning she discovered that someone had smashed out the front passenger window. She said that it appeared as though the vehicle had been gone through, however nothing was missing.

Police Report: April 25

4200 block of Russell Avenue: Emergency petition – 1 am. Officers responded for a domestic dispute. The officers discovered that a man and woman were engaged in a verbal argument about relationship issues. The female, who was pregnant, threatened to commit suicide by jumping out the third floor window. The officers also learned that she suffers from depression and has attempted suicide in the past. She was transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for an emergency psychological examination.

4200 block of Russell Avenue: Hit and run motor vehicle collision – 10:20 am. The owner of a 2006 Toyota Camry reported that her car was struck by a second vehicle that failed to remain at the scene of the collision. Witnesses described the striking vehicle only as a gray truck.

4400 block of 28th Street: Warrant arrest – 6:35 pm. Officers on patrol observed an individual who was known to have an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for 2nd degree assault. The suspect was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Police Report: April 26

2900 block of Arundel Road: CDS arrest – 1 am. Officers responded for several reports of a man standing on Arundel Road firing a handgun in the air. When the officers arrived on the scene the man immediately fled the area. The officers chased him to an apartment where he barricaded himself inside and refused to come out. With the assistance of officers from Hyattsville City the officers were able to force entry into the apartment and arrest the man. They seized the gun he was firing and also discovered a large quantity of narcotics inside the apartment. The officers seized over four pounds of marijuana and over $15,000 in US currency. The man was charged with numerous crimes including reckless endangerment and distribution of narcotics and delivered to the custody of DOC in Upper Marlboro.

4600 block of 25th Street: Vandalism to auto – 11 am. The owner of a 2009 Honda Civic reported that sometime during the previous night someone vandalized he car by putting several large scratches on the passenger side front and rear doors.

4000 block of Cedar Lane: Criminal citation – 12:25 pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking an alcoholic beverage in public.

3500 block of Otis Street: Stolen vehicle – 9:50 pm. The owner of a 1999 Chevy Suburban told officers that he parked and secured his vehicle on April 25th at about 11 pm. When he returned for his vehicle tonight he discovered that it had been stolen.

Police Report: April 27-28

April 27th:

4300 block of 28th Place: Theft from auto – 7:30 pm. The owner of a 2008 Nissan Altima told officers that sometime between 10 pm on April 26th and the time she reported the incident to police today someone stole the rear license plate off her vehicle.

2700 block of Webster Street: Stolen vehicle – 11:30 pm. The owner of a 2001 Dodge neon (Texas tags HVD547) told officers that she parked and secured her vehicle at 10:00 pm. When she returned to her car at 11:30 pm she discovered that it had been stolen.

April 28th (early morning):

3300 block of Buchanan Street: Recovered stolen auto – 3:20 am. Prince George’s County Police reported that their officers recovered a 1999 Dodge Intrepid in the 6500 block of Eastern Avenue in Hyattsville. The vehicle was reported stolen from the 3300 block of Buchanan Street on April 21st. There were no arrests made and the owner was contacted via phone.

Police Report: April 28-29

April 28th:

37th and Shepherd Streets: Motor vehicle crash – 10:35 am. The driver of a 1986 Pontiac was the victim of a medical emergency, lost consciousness and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a parked car and came to rest. Fire/rescue personnel responded and transported the driver to a hospital for treatment.

4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP Station): Theft from auto – 10 pm. The victim told officers that while she was pumping gas she glanced in her side view mirror and observed a black male reach in through an open window and steal her purse. She saw the suspect, describes as a black male, 18-20 years of age, 140 lbs., wearing a red t-shirt and black skull cap, get into a waiting small red SUV which fled the scene down Eastern Avenue towards Queens Chapel Road. A search of the area for the suspect and the red SUV proved negative.

3200 Block Rhode Island Avenue: Warrant arrest - 11:30 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant for driving on a suspended license. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

April 29th (early morning):

4600 block of 22nd StreetRecovered stolen auto – 12:45 am. An officer was patrolling the area in a vehicle equipped with an automatic license plate reader. The officer received an alert that he had just passed a stolen automobile. The officer confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from an address in Prince George’s County on April 27th. The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping and the owner was notified of the recovery.

Police Report: April 29 - May 1

April 29th:

4600 block of 27th Street: Arson – 9:10 pm. Officers responded for the report of a suspicious fire. They discovered that someone set the victim’s mail on fire inside their mailbox. Fire/rescue personnel responded to extinguish the fire. The office of the fire marshal and US postal inspectors were notified of the incident but declined to respond and investigate.

2700 block of Allison Street: Arson – 11:10 pm. Officers responded for the report of a suspicious fire. Their investigation revealed that someone set the contents of a laundry room metal trash can on fire. Fire/rescue personnel responded to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries and no structural damage was done to the laundry room. The fire marshal responded to the scene to take over the investigation.

April 30th:

3300 block of Chauncey Place: Warrant arrest – 4:40 pm. Officers responded in an attempt to locate an individual who was known to them to have an open arrest warrant. The man was located, arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

One Municipal Place: Criminal citation – 6:50 pm. Officers on patrol issued a man a criminal citation for urinating in public.

May 1st:

3200 block of Chillum Road: Vandalism to auto – 1:10 pm. The owner of a 2005 Ford Mustang told officers that she parked her undamaged vehicle by her residence at about 8 pm on April 30th. When she returned to her car she discovered that her passenger side mirror was broken and there were scratches all along the upper passenger side of the vehicle.

3300 block of Shepherd Street: Traffic/vehicle impound – 9:50 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the tags did not belong to vehicle and the driver did not have a license. The driver was issued several state traffic citations and the vehicle was impounded.
