Police Report: February 19-25

February 25 th : 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Trespassing – 3am. Officers responded for the report of a person sleeping in the stairwell. Upon arrival the officers located a female sleeping in the hallway. Further investigation revealed that the woman lied to officers about her identity. After discovering her true identity she was arrested, charged with trespassing and false statement and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 31 st and Shepherd Streets : Hit and run collision – 8:30am. The owner of a 1994 Olds 88 told officers that sometime between 6:30pm on the 24 th and the time she called police a second vehicle struck her vehicle and failed to remain at the scene. Officers recovered the front grill of a Honda Civic and white paint on the victim’s vehicle. A lookout for a possible suspect vehicle was broadcast to surrounding jurisdictions. 2500 block of Arundel Road : Vehicle impound – 9am. Police Report: February 12-18

February 18 th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : Warrant service – 9:50 pm. Officers received a call from a woman who said that her boyfriend had just stolen her cell phone. When the officers arrived the woman gave them a description of the boyfriend. The officers located and detained him in the parking lot of the BP station. As the officers were questioning him the victim came up, took her phone back and left the area. Further investigation revealed that the man had an open arrest warrant through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear in court on a theft charge. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. February 17 th : 3200 block of Queens Chapel Road : DWI – 12:30 am. Officers patrolling the area observed a 2010 Ford pickup truck stopped at a green traffic light. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Police Report: February 5-11

February 11 th : Nothing significant to report. February 10 th : 3200 block of Chillum Road : CDS – 10:55am. Officers responded for the report of a possible burglary in progress. Upon arrival they stopped three individuals for a field interview. During the interview one of them was found in possession of marijuana. Another was found in possession of stolen property from a local 7-11 store and burglary tools that were possibly used to try and gain entry to an apartment. These two individuals were arrested and charged accordingly as juveniles. The third individual was interviewed and released without charges. 4000 block of 33 rd Street : Emergency petition – 7:30pm. Officers responded for the report of several disorderly subjects in the street. Once on the scene the officers observed that one of the individual’s behavior was consistent with that of a person under the influence of PCP. Assault on an MRPD Police Officer

On February 7 th at about 10 pm Mount Rainier Police Corporal A.J. Ortiz initiated a traffic stop at Chillum Road and Queens Chapel Road. The driver of the vehicle stopped in the parking lot of the RAI Care Center located in the 2400 block of Chillum Road. CPL Ortiz approached the driver of the vehicle and attempted to obtain his information. Shortly thereafter the driver placed the vehicle in reverse while turning the wheel. The vehicle struck CPL Ortiz causing him to lose his balance. The driver then placed the vehicle in drive and struck CPL Ortiz a second time causing him to roll over the driver’s side hood and windshield and fall to the pavement. As the vehicle fled the parking lot onto Chillum Road the driver’s side rear tire rolled over CPL Ortiz’s left ankle. CPL Ortiz was able to broadcasted a lookout for the vehicle over his police radio and a search for the vehicle was initiated by officers from MRPD, Prince George’s County, Hyattsville City and MPD. Police Report: January 29 - February 4

February 4 th : Queens Chapel Road and Buchanan Street : Vehicle impound – 7:30 pm. Officers impounded a 1978 Ford van after it was disabled following a motor vehicle collision. February 3 rd : 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Theft from auto – 5:10 pm. The owner of a 1996 Geo Prism reported that someone stole the rear tag off his vehicle sometime between this morning and the time he called police. 3200 block of Chillum Road : Criminal citation – 7:40 pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for trespassing. The man had been properly notified by Queenstown management that he was barred from the property. 2400 block of Chillum Road : Warrant service – 8:40 pm. Officers stopped a 2004 Nissan for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s tags were suspended for emissions violations, the driver had a suspended DC learner’s permit and he also had two open arrest warrants through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on charges of drivi
