Police Report: May 20-26

May 26 th : 4500 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Traffic/vehicle impound – 4am. Officers stopped a 1997 Cadillac Deville for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended license. He was issued several traffic citations and his vehicle was impounded. 4200 block of 28 th Street : Recovered stolen auto – 5:25am. Officers on patrol identified and recovered a 2003 Dodge Caravan reported stolen from an address in Prince George’s County on May 17 th . The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping. 4000 block of 31 st Street : Theft from auto – 5pm. The owner of a 2007 Nissan Altima told officers that he saw a dark blue Dodge Caravan parked beside his vehicle. He also said that he saw a black male wearing a white tank top shirt and dark color pants inside of his vehicle. Police Report: May 13-19

May 19th 2300 block of Varnum Street (7-11) : Armed robbery – 4:15am. Store employees told officers that while they were going about business as usual two black males entered the store wearing ski masks. One of the men produced a handgun and demanded money. The second man jumped over the counter and emptied the cash registers as the employees opened them. Both suspects then fled the store on foot up 22 nd Street to a waiting vehicle. Suspect #1 was described as a black male, 20-25 years of age, 5’10” tall, 170 lbs, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, a ski mask and armed with a blue semi automatic handgun. Suspect #2 was described as a black male 6’2” tall, 200 lbs, wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt and a ski mask. 3300 block of Buchanan Street : Motor vehicle collision – 4:35pm. Officers were called to investigate a two-vehicle collision. While speaking o the drivers involved the officers learned that the striking vehicle pulled out from a parking spot and struck a passing vehicle.

Police Report: May 6-12

May 12 th : 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : DWI arrest – 3:30am. Officers responded for the report of a single vehicle collision. When the officers arrived they located the driver and noticed a strong odor of alcohol about his person. He submitted to standard field sobriety testing and failed each of the tests. He refused to submit to further blood alcohol testing. He was charged with DUI/DWI by citation and released. His vehicle was impounded for safekeeping. 4200 block of 34 th Street : Mutual aid – 11pm. MRPD officers assisted members of the Prince George’s County Gang Task Force, Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office and US Marshal’s agents with the arrest of a man wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in the County. Intelligence revealed that the suspect was at a gathering of about 20 MS13 gang members at an address on 34 th Street. Task force members raided the gathering and took the suspect into custody without incident. All others present at the gathering

Police Report: April 29 to May 5

May 5 th : 3400 block of Otis Street : Vandalism to auto – 1:05am. The owner of a 2008 Nissan told officers that sometime between 10pm on May 4 th and the time she called police someone broke out her vehicle’s driver’s side window. No other damage was reported and nothing was stolen from inside the vehicle. 4200 block of 34 th Street : DWI – 12:40am. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. She refused to submit to a chemical test for alcohol. She was charged with DWI/DUI and other traffic charges and released at the scene. Her vehicle was impounded for safekeeping. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Criminal citation – 3:50pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place. 2300 block of Arundel Road : Criminal citation – 7pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for urinating in public in the parking lot of the Grand China restauran
