Police Report: August 12-18

August 18th:

33rd and Shepherd Streets: Citizen robbery – 1:30am. A man came into the police station to report that he had been robbed. The man told officers that he was walking home when he was approached by four black males who grabbed him. Three of the males assaulted the victim while the fourth man went through his pockets and stole several items of his personal property. The four then fled the scene on 33rd Street towards Bunker Hill Road. The victim said that he could positively identify his assailants should he see them again. PGPD robbery detectives responded to take the victim’s statement and start a follow-up investigation.

3300 block of Chillum Road (7-11): Citizen robbery – 4:30am. The victim told officers that she accepted a ride home from two acquaintances when she left her job. They made a brief stop at the 7-11 and as the victim was leaving the store she was approached by two Hispanic males who grabbed her by the neck and stole her necklace. One of her acquaintances said that he saw both suspects leaving the scene in a silver 4-door Ford Taurus. He also said that the suspects followed the victim and her acquaintances from her place of employment to the 7-11. A search of the area for the suspects and their vehicle proved negative.

3300 block of Chillum Road: Vandalism to auto – 9:20pm. The owner of a 2008 Honda Accord told officers that she returned to her vehicle and discovered all four tires had been punctured. No evidence was recovered at the scene.

August 17th:

2700 block of Webster Street: Residential burglary – 4:15pm. The resident called police when she arrived home to find one of her TVs sitting on the stairs leading to her apartment and the apartment door ajar. Officers checked the residence and found no one inside. The resident checked his apartment and discovered that it had been ransacked and numerous items of his personal property had been stolen. Officers processed the residence for evidence with negative results.

4000 block of 36th Street: CDS possession – 6:55pm. Officers stopped a man for a field interview. During the interview the officers discovered that the man was in possession of 12 grams of marijuana. He was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

2900 block of Allison Street: Citizen robbery – 9:15pm. The victim told officers that as he was walking home he was attacked by 8 men who he had seen following him. The men hit the victim in the head and kicked him in the stomach before stealing his gold necklace. After the assault the suspects were seen fleeing the area towards Arundel Road. The victim was unable to provide a description of his assailants. MRPD on-duty and overtime robbery suppression officers searched the area for the suspects with negative results. PGPD robbery detectives responded to assume a follow-up investigation.

August 16th:

3700 block of 37th Street: Disorderly conduct – 1:35am. Officers patrolling the area came upon a group of individuals walking in the street with alcoholic beverages in their hands. One of the men was actively consuming his beverage. When the officers stopped the man to discuss the infraction he became very disorderly and started yelling and cursing. The man was extremely intoxicated and the officers’ attempts to get him to calm down were not successful. He was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct and drinking in public and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

34th Street and Windom Road: Traffic arrest – 12pm. Officers stopped a 1999 Nissan Altima for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was a juvenile and did not possess a driver’s license. He was arrested, charged accordingly and released to the custody of his parents pending court adjudication.

2500 block of Allison Street: Theft investigation – 7:55pm. Officers were contacted by the Miami Metro Dade Police Department with a request for assistance with an ongoing theft investigation in their jurisdiction. Miami Dade Police advised that they had several Apple iPads stolen from the Miami International Airport and one of the devices had been traced back to an individual in the City of Mount Rainier. Officers were able to locate the individual and determine that she was not involved. MRPD officers are in the process of obtaining the iPad and helping Miami Police close out part of their investigation.

August 15th:

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Criminal citation – 2:20pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place.

3200 block of Chillum Road: Traffic/CDS arrest – 7:40pm. Officers stopped a 2012 Chrysler 300 when they observed the driver not wearing her seatbelt. The driver initially identified herself using her sister’s name and date of birth, but when that information revealed that her sister had an open arrest warrant she told the officers her real name. Further investigation revealed that not only did she not have a driver’s license but she was also in possession of marijuana. She was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

August 14th:

Nothing significant to report.

August 13th:

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Criminal citation – 11:25am. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for possessing an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a public place.

August 12th:

3400 block of Eastern Avenue: Warrant service – 1pm. Officers responded for the report of a domestic dispute. When the officers arrived they learned that the male half of the dispute had two open arrest warrants through Prince George’s County for DUI and driving without a license. He was arrested on the warrants and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road: Motor vehicle collision – 7:25pm. Officers patrolling the area came upon a collision involving a juvenile pedestrian. During the investigation the officers learned that the vehicle was in the process of making a legal turn when the pedestrian ran into the side of the vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for precautionary treatment of his minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not charged.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
