The 2012 National Night Out annual observance will take place on Tuesday, August 7th.  National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), is designed to generate neighborhood support of and participation in crime prevention efforts and to enhance police and community relations.  Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrate with a variety of events to help neighbors get to know one another and to build community spirit.  This is the 29th year of National Night Out observances that demonstrate a community’s commitment to keep their neighborhood free from crime.  Please join the Mount Rainier Police Department for our annual National Night Out festivities from 6-9pm along Otis Street from 35th Street to Wells Avenue. There will be plenty of food, entertainment and a traditional walk against crime beginning at 8:30pm. The first 25 residents who sign up for a residential home security survey will receive their choice of a 2012 National Night Out t-shirt or cap.
