Police Report: February 17-23

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. February 23 rd : 3100 block of Chillum Road : Warrant service – 2am. Officers stopped a 2006 Chevy Impala for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended license and an open arrest warrant for driving on a suspended license. He was arrested, issued the appropriate traffic citations and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The vehicle was impounded. 2900 block of Arundel Road : Vehicle impound – 8:30am. Police Report: February 10-16

February 16 th : 3100 block of Webster Street : Dog bite -3:20pm. The victim, a Direct TV installer, told officers that he was bitten by the resident’s dog which appeared to be a boxer/pit bull mix. Then victim was treated by fire/rescue personnel and PG Animal Control responded to impound the dog. 3700 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant service – 9:15pm. Officers stopped a 2009 Nissan Altima for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver’s license was suspended and the passenger had two open arrest warrants through Montgomery County for unauthorized use

Police Report: February 3-9

February 9 th : 3600 block of Oak Lane : Possible sexual assault/warrant service – 12:35pm. Officers spoke with a woman who told them that she was hanging out inside a vehicle drinking and talking with a male friend. At one point the man began to kiss and undress her. When a passing vehicle approached the victim stopped the encounter and got out of the vehicle. Officers tried to get additional details of the incident from the woman but she refused to cooperate any further. Police Report: January 27 - February 2

February 2 nd : 4000 block of 37 th Street : Burglary – 10:30am. The reporting person told officers that a private contractor doing work at a vacant residence secured the structure and left the area at about 9pm on February 1 st .  When the reporting person returned to the residence this morning he discovered that the basement door had been kicked open and an air conditioning unit and a hot water heater had been stolen from inside.
