Police Report: December 14-20

December 20 th : 3500 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant service – 12:40am. Officers stopped a 2013 Chevy for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license. He was issued three traffic citations, arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. December 13 th : 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Criminal citation – 12:10pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for urinating in public. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : MIR – 2:40pm. Officers responded for the report of unknown trouble. Upon their arrival they discovered that a male and a female were arguing. Another male stepped in to defend the female in the argument. This upset the other male so the two started to fight. The female then called police. All partied were found to be intoxicated and uncooperative. December 6 th : 3300 block of Chauncey Place : Domestic assault – 1am. Officers responded for the report of loud noise coming from an apartment. When the officers arrived they observed blood on the steps leading to the apartment. They spoke with the resident/victim who told them that she and her boyfriend/suspect got into an argument. The argument turned physical and the man grabbed her by her hair and shoved her into a wall. Police Report: November 23-29

November 29 th : 3700 block of Wells Avenue : Burglary – 10:25am. The resident told officers that she was absent from her home from about 2pm on the 28 th to about 12:45pm today. She said that when she returned she discovered that the rear door to the residence had been broken and that the house had been rummaged through. The victim does not believe that anything was missing as she is in the process of moving and that most of the house is boxed up. 3800 block of 35 th Street : Vandalism to auto – 12:45pm. The owner of a 2008 Mazda told officers that he came out to move his vehicle

November 22 nd : Nothing significant to report. November 21 st : 2400 block of Arundel Road : MIR – 8:30am. The reporting person told officers that he had been involved in a minor traffic collision in the parking lot of the Varnum Street 7-11 at about 5:45am this morning. He said that as he was providing his personal information to the other driver the other driver became upset and threw him to the ground. Officers viewed the store’s security camera footage  and saw nothing to support the reporting person’s account of what allegedly occurred. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Fraud

Police Report: November 9-15

November 15 th : 2700 block of Upshur Street : Stolen vehicle (recovered) - 2:10am. Officers received a request from DC police to respond to an address on Upshur Street and ask the owner of a 2005 Buick Lacrosse if he knew where his vehicle was. Officers contacted the owner and learned that he had parked the vehicle outside his residence and had it had obviously been stolen. DC officers recovered the vehicle in the 3800 block of 24 th Street SE. The vehicle was found to have a broken window, a defeated ignition and all four wheels missing. November 8 th : 3500 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Vehicle impound – 12:45pm. Officers impounded a Chevy Impala for displaying expired registration plates. 3100 block of Buchanan Street : Mutual aid to PGPD – 2:45am. Officers received a lookout for an armed man who fled on foot from PGPD officers. While searching for the suspect MRPD officers detained a man matching the suspect’s description. PGPD officers responded and positively identified him and placed him under arrest. While searching the area incident to the arrest officers found the loaded handgun discarded by the suspect. N

Police report: October 26 - November 1

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. Some reports may be outside the date parameters due to extended investigations or other circumstances. Some cases are not included at all due to ongoing investigations. November 1 st : 3600 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Animal bite – 9:45am. The owner told officers that his dog had escaped from the yard, was struck by a car and sustained a broken leg. When the owner tried to pick up the dog it bit him and subsequently bit his wife. Animal control responded to the scene and took possession of the dog to euthanize it at the owner’s request. 3100 block of Shepherd Street : Commercial burglary – 10am. The reporting person told officers that someone had broken into the church’s trustee room and ransacked it. The reporting person went on to state that t
