Police Report: April 20-26

April 26 th : 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Traffic – 2:45am. Officers stopped a 2009 Mazda for a traffic violation. The vehicle’s registration was suspended and there was a pick up order for the tags. The driver’s license was also suspended. He was issued several traffic citations, the tags were seized for return to MVA and the vehicle was impounded. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Traffic – 11:30am. Officers stopped a 2002 Nissan maxima for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended license. He was issued several traffic citations and his vehicle was impounded. 3700 block of 234 th Street : Vandalism to auto -3pm. April 19 th : 2200 block of Varnum Street : Vandalism to auto – 12:10am. The owner of a 2008 Toyota Camry told officers that he parked his vehicle in the gravel lot across from Kay Liquors at about 1:30pm on the 18 th . When he returned to his vehicle this morning he discovered that someone had thrown a rock through the driver’s side window. 4500 block of 30 th Street : Vehicle impound – 7am. Police Report: March 30 - April 5

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. April 5 th : 2300 block of Varnum Street (7-11) : Emergency petition – 6:15am. Officers responded for the report of a man fighting with the store manager. When they arrived they found a man pulling on the front door trying to get inside the store. Officers attempted to get the man to calm down and leave the premises but he refused.  The officers were eventually compelled to deploy a Taser weapon to get the man under control and in custody. Further investigation revealed that he was under the influence of PCP. He was transported to Washington Adventist Hospital where he was released t

Police Report: March 23-29

March 29 th : 3200 block of Varnum Street : Vandalism – 1:15am. The homeowner told officers that at about 1:10am someone threw a brick through her living room window. She said that her son ran after the person he thought was responsible down 32 nd Street towards Webster but was unable to catch him. The only description that was given was that of a man wearing a tan jacket or coat. The victim thinks that it could be related to an ongoing dispute some of her neighbors. 2500 block of Allison Street : Assault – 12:10pm. Officers responded for the report of a cutting related to a domestic incident. When the officer arrived they found a man in the hallway suffering from scratches and abrasions to the right side of his face. He told the officers that his wife had cut him. Officers interviewed the wife and she said that she scratched her husband with her nails but did not cut him. Officers were able to determine that the man’s injuries were a result of retaliation by his wife after he hit he
