Police Report: May 18-24

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. May 24 th : 3700 block of 36 th Street : Assault – 10:50am. Officers responded for the report of a fight in progress. When they arrived they observed a man assaulting a male victim. Officers attempted to get the man to stop the assault without success and were forced to deploy a Taser weapon in order to get him under control and under arrest. Once the man was in custody the officers learned that he had also physically assaulted his sister prior to their arrival. Police Report: May 11-17

May 17 th : 3200 block of Varnum Street : Assault – 8:30am. Officers arrested a 52- year old man who had pushed and assaulted his 79- year old mother. He was charged with assault and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3400 block of Bunker Hill Road : Vehicle impound – 9:40am. Officers impounded a 2002 Nissan Altima because its registration expired in January 2014. There was also an MSP pick up order for the tags for an emissions violation. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Criminal citation – 2pm. Officers issued a man a criminal cit

Police Report: May 4-10

May 10 th : Rhode Island Avenue and Eastern Avenue : Emergency petition – 1:10am. Officers responded to assist fire/rescue personnel with a man who had been found unconscious and was under the influence of K2 spice and a fifth alcohol. The man had become uncontrollable in the back of an ambulance and officers were forced to deploy a Taser to get him under control and under arrest. Once he was secured fire/rescue personnel transported him to Washington Hospital Center where he was released to medical personnel for treatment. 4200 block of Russell Avenue : P

Glut Robbery Update

The Mount Rainier Police today received information from PGPD CID detectives that they have obtained an arrest warrant for Erick Clarence Jackson of the 2200 block of Otis Street, NE DC in connection with the April 7 th armed robbery of Glut. Mr. Jackson is currently being held in DC on a separate charge of armed robbery that occurred in the District. He will be transferred to Prince George’s County when he is released from custody in DC. The second suspect in the Glut robbery has not yet been identified.  

Police report: April 27 - May 3

May 3 rd : 4300 block of 28 th Place : Hit and run collision – 1:35am. The owner of a 1999 Toyota Camry told officers that he came out to his vehicle and found damage to the front end. A witness stopped and told him that they had seen a gold colored Chevy Suburban back into his vehicle. No further evidence was identified and the witness failed to identify themselves before leaving the scene. 4000 block of 34 th Street : Vehicle impound – 9:45am. Officers impounded a 1999 Saab 95 for displaying tags that expired in October of 2013. 2700 block of Webst
