Police Report: November 16-22

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. November 22 nd : Nothing significant to report. November 21 st : 2400 block of Arundel Road : MIR – 8:30am. The reporting person told officers that he had been involved in a minor traffic collision in the parking lot of the Varnum Street 7-11 at about 5:45am this morning. He said that as he was providing his personal information to the other driver the other driver became upset and threw him to the ground. Officers viewed the store’s security camera footage  and saw nothing to support the reporting person’s account of what allegedly occurred. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Fraud

Police Report: November 9-15

November 15 th : 2700 block of Upshur Street : Stolen vehicle (recovered) - 2:10am. Officers received a request from DC police to respond to an address on Upshur Street and ask the owner of a 2005 Buick Lacrosse if he knew where his vehicle was. Officers contacted the owner and learned that he had parked the vehicle outside his residence and had it had obviously been stolen. DC officers recovered the vehicle in the 3800 block of 24 th Street SE. The vehicle was found to have a broken window, a defeated ignition and all four wheels missing. Police Report: November 2-8

November 8 th : 3500 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Vehicle impound – 12:45pm. Officers impounded a Chevy Impala for displaying expired registration plates. 3100 block of Buchanan Street : Mutual aid to PGPD – 2:45am. Officers received a lookout for an armed man who fled on foot from PGPD officers. While searching for the suspect MRPD officers detained a man matching the suspect’s description. PGPD officers responded and positively identified him and placed him under arrest. While searching the area incident to the arrest officers found the loaded handgun discarded by the suspect. N

Police report: October 26 - November 1

November 1 st : 3600 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Animal bite – 9:45am. The owner told officers that his dog had escaped from the yard, was struck by a car and sustained a broken leg. When the owner tried to pick up the dog it bit him and subsequently bit his wife. Animal control responded to the scene and took possession of the dog to euthanize it at the owner’s request. 3100 block of Shepherd Street : Commercial burglary – 10am. October 25 th : 33 rd and Perry Streets : Criminal citation (x2) – 9:15pm. Officers issued both a man and woman criminal citations for drinking in public and urinating in public. 3300 block of Perry Street : Criminal citation (x2) – 9:40pm. Officers issued each of two men a criminal citation for possession of open alcoholic beverages inside a motor vehicle. October 24 th : 3300 block of Bunker Hill Road : Warrant service – 12:20am. Officers stopped two suspicious men for a field interview. During the interview officers discovered that one of the men had an open arrest warrant thro
