Police Report: August 16-22

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. August 22 nd : 3200 block of Chillum Road : Criminal citation – 7:05am. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Traffic – 11:25am. Officers stopped a 2001 Saturn for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the tags affixed to the vehicle were suspended, had been switched from another vehicle, and the vehicle itself was unregistered. The driver was issued several citations and the vehicle was impounded. August 21 st : 3400 block of Shepherd Street : Burglary – 2:30pm. Officers responded

Police Report: August 9-15

August 15 th : One Municipal Place : Warrant service – 9:30am. Officers stopped a man for drinking from a bottle of Vodka. Further investigation revealed that he had an open arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on a traffic offense. He was issued a criminal citation for the alcohol violation and arrested on the warrant. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 2700 block of Allison Street : Vandalism to auto – 10:15pm. The owner of a 2005 Toyota told officers that he came out to his truck and discovered that someone has slashed all four tires.

Police Report: August 2-8

August 8 th : 3400 block of Newton Street : Burglary – 5:55pm. Officers received a call from management that an apartment had been broken into and the door was off the hinges. When they arrived the officers checked the apartment and found that it had not been ransacked. When the resident returned home she checked the apartment and discovered that numerous items of her personal property had been stolen. Police Report: July 26 - August 1

August 1 st : 3700 block of 35 th Street : Criminal citation – 12:55am. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for urinating in public. 3200 block of Queenstown Drive : Attempt robbery – 1am. The victim told officers that he arrived home and parked his vehicle in the parking lot of his apartment building. As he was walking to his building he was approached by a man who brandished two large kitchen knives and demanded his cell phone. He refused and ran towards his apartment door. The suspect ran towards Chillum Road eventually making good his escape. The victim was not injured an

Police Report: July 19-25

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. July 25 th : 3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Traffic – 1:55am. Officers stopped a 2013 Nissan after an automated license plate reader indicated that the tags were suspended. The ALPR information was verified and the tags were seized for return to MVA and the vehicle was impounded. The driver was issued several State traffic citations. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Traffic – 10:10pm. Officers stopped a 1998 Honda after observing that a front seat passenger was not wearing a seat belt. Further investigation revealed that the driver only had a learner’s permit and the passenge
