Police Report: April 17-23

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. April 23 rd : 3300 block of Perry Street : M/V collision – 1:35am. Officers responded for a single vehicle collision. They found the vehicle in question with extensive front end damage and both air bags deployed. Witnesses told the officers that that the vehicle was occupied by two females who fled on foot after the collision. Attempts to locate the driver based on the registration were negative. April 16 th : 3100 block of Webster Street : M/V collision – 3am. Officers investigating a hit and run collision located a 2007 Nissan Altima that was identified as the striking vehicle. The officers had Montgomery County Police contact the car’s owner and learned that her son had the vehicle. The son was located, returned to the scene and cited accordingly. 3200 block of Taylor Street : Domestic assault – 10:35am. April 9 th : Nothing significant to report. April 8 th : 3100 block of Chillum Road : Criminal citation – 6:15pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for theft of several items of merchandise. He was identified by the officers from the store’s surveillance video. 3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Vehicle impound – 8:15am. Officers impounded a 2009 Honda Accord for displaying tags that expired back in January. April 2 nd : 4300 block of 28 th Place : Vehicle impound – 8:35pm. Officers impounded a 2001 Ford Expedition that was displaying tags that expired in November of 2015. 3200 block of Arundel Road : Vehicle impound – 10:35am.
