3500 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Vehicle impound – 8:15am. Officers impounded a 2012 Nissan Maxima that was parked in a posted emergency no parking zone.
2900 block of Upshur Street: Vehicle impound – 8:40am. Officers impounded a 1998 Cadillac that was parked in a posted emergency no parking zone. The officers also learned that the vehicle's registration was suspended with a pick up order for the tags.
3300 block of Perry Street: Theft – 12:30pm. The victim told officers that her ex-boyfriend came into her place of work, picked up her cell phone off her desk and walked out. Officers documented the incident however the victim said that she didn't was to pursue charges against the boyfriend.
2200 block of Varnum Street: Theft from auto – 1:25pm. The owner of a 2004 Toyota Corolla reported that sometime between 12:15 and 12:35pm today someone stole the rear tag off her vehicle.
3600 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Warrant service – 1:45pm. Officers stopped a man for a field interview and learned that he had two open arrest warrants through Prince George's County for failing to obey a lawful order of a police officer. He was arrested on the warrants and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.
3500 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Criminal citation – 3:50pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public.
3200 block of Buchanan Street: Criminal citation – 5:25pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for urinating in public.
3400 block of 36th Street: Criminal citation – 6:20pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for disorderly conduct.
3100 block of Chillum Road: DUI – 12:45am. Officers stopped a 2008 Ford van after observing the driver leave the 7-11 in what they suspected was an intoxicated state. When they spoke with the driver they verified that he was under the influence of alcohol. He failed standard field sobriety testing and refused to take a chemical test for alcohol. He was charged with driving under the influence and released. His vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.
4200 block of 28th Street: Vehicle impound – 11am. Officers impounded an unregistered 1994 GMC truck that had been previously marked for 48-hour towing.
3700 block of 36th Street: MIR – 12:45pm. Officers checked two vacant houses in the block and found both to be open an unsecure. No one was found inside either house and there were no signs of damage. Officers contacted the property owners via phone to inform them of the situation and they advised that someone would come out and properly secure the houses.
3700 block of Wells Avenue: Theft from auto – 2:25pm. The owner of a 2014 Dodge Challenger came into the police station and reported that someone had stolen the front tag off her vehicle.
35th and Perry Streets: M/V collision – 4:40pm. Officers patrolling the area saw a 2003 Ford Expedition collide with a parked 2005 Ford Explorer. The driver of the Expedition continued on without stopping. When the officers stopped the truck the driver said that he did not realize that he struck the parked vehicle. He was issued the appropriate traffic citations and the owner of the Explorer was provided with his identification and insurance information.
2300 block of Varnum Street: Theft – 12:30am. Officers took a man into custody who refused to identify himself after being found in possession of stolen items from the store. He was transported to DOC in Hyattsville where he was positively identified by his fingerprints. He was issued a criminal citation for theft and released.
3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Criminal citation – 2:30pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public.
One Municipal Place: Criminal citation – 11:15pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public.
3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Criminal citation – 3:50pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public.
3800 block of 34th Street: Criminal citation (x2) – 3:55pm. Officers issued each of two men a criminal citation for drinking in public.
4200 block of Cedar Lane Alley: Vehicle impound – 4:35pm. Officers impounded a 2002 Volvo that was abandoned with no tags displayed.
4500 block of 32nd Street: MIR – 8:30pm. Officers responded for multiple reports of a fight in the roadway. When they arrived any fight that may have occurred was over but a verbal altercation between members of the group had occurred. Further investigation revealed that no crime had taken place and that this was just a verbal altercation that became extremely loud.
3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Warrant service – 2:25pm. Officers stopped to check on a man sleeping on a bench. Further investigation revealed that he had an open arrest warrant through the Sheriff's Office for failing to appear (FTA) in court on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.
Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road: M/V collision – 5:05 pm. Officers investigating the collision determined that the driver of a 2008 Nissan Sentra changed lanes and collided with a 1996 Honda. No injuries were reported.
31st Street and Bunker Hill Road: Found property – 7:45pm. Officers located a green Cannondale mountain bike that had a broken rear derailleur. Officers took possession of the bike for safekeeping.
3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Strong arm robbery – 6:30am. The reporting person told officers that her uncle came home showing signs of having been assaulted. The victim told officers that someone tried to rob him while he was walking near the parking area of the Queenstown Apartments. He said that a man grabbed him from behind and demanded his wallet. When he refused a struggle ensued and the victim sustained several head injuries, He was taken by EMS to MedStar hospital for treatment. PGPD robbery detectives were notified and will conduct a follow-up investigation. The victim was unable to provide a physical description of his assailant.
4000 block of 36th Street: CDS possession – 7:20pm. Officers issued a man a civil citation for possession of less than 10g of marijuana.
3200 block of Queenstown Drive: 2nd degree assault – 8:25pm. The victim told officers that her significant other got into an argument when she got home from work. During the argument he struck her in the face and in her side. Officers observed evidence of the assault on the victim's face and abdomen. The man was arrested, charged with 2nd degree assault and delivered to the custody of DOC in Upper Marlboro. The victim obtained a protective order against the man and he was served with the order while in custody at DOC.
