Police Report: July 31 - August 6

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. August 6 th : 2700 block of Allison Street : Vehicle impound – 9:20am. Officers impounded a 2002 Nissan Maxima for displaying expired tags. 2400 block of Queens Chapel Road : Warrant service – 8:30pm. Officers arrested a man who had an open arrest warrant through the Maryland Transit Administration for failing to appear in court on an alcohol related charge. 3200 block of Queenstown Drive : 2 nd degree assault – 9:50pm. July 30 th : 3300 block of Chauncey Place : MIR – 8:55pm. Officers assisted fire/rescue personnel with a forced entry into an apartment. The elderly resident called 911 after experiencing a fall. The woman was found uninjured and EMS personnel assisted her with getting safely into bed. July 29 th : 3300 block of Chauncey Place : Stolen vehicle – 9am. July 23 rd : 2400 block of Queens Chapel Road : Traffic – 4:55am. Officers patrolling the area observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. The officers were able to catch up to the vehicle and effect a traffic stop on Queens Chapel Road at Eastern Avenue. Before the officers were able to get the vehicle’s tag number the vehicle suddenly took off at a high rate of speed into DC. The officers followed to try and get a good tag number and saw the driver throw a handgun out of the window. A few seconds later the driver failed to execute a bend in the road and crashed into
