Attempt to Identify Commercial Burglary Suspects

At about 12:30am this morning the Terminal Marketplace located at 3414 Rhode Island Avenue was burglarized by at least two individuals. One or more of these individuals returned to the business later in the morning and stole additional merchandise. The store’s video surveillance system captured images of the suspects which are included below. Anyone with information about this crime or the identity of one or more of the suspects is encouraged to call Mount Rainier Police at 301-985-6580.

At about 2:20am on May 19th officers responded to a commercial burglar alarm at the Bird Café on 34th Street. When they arrived they saw a man fleeing the business carrying a cash register drawer. The officers pursued the man but lost sight of him in the area of 37th and Perry Streets. PGPD Air 1 and a K-9 unit assisted in the search with negative results. Officers canvassed the area and interviewed a citizen who had seen photos of a possible suspect on the MRPD Facebook page that may also have been responsible for the Bird Café burglary. The citizen’s information led the officers to the suspect’s residence in the 4500 block of 41st Avenue in North Brentwood. The suspect was positively identified and taken into custody. He was transported to PGPD District I detective bureau. He will be charged with commercial burglary of Bird Café. Charges for several other commercial burglaries in Mount Rainier, Brentwood and Hyattsville are pending.

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description).
