Police Report: July 20-26

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. July 26 th : 4300 block of Kaywood Drive : Vandalism to auto – 11:55am. The owner of a 2005 Cadillac told officers that sometime between 9:30pm on the 25 th and the time she called police someone smashed out the rear window. No evidence/witnesses were identified. 3100 block of Taylor Street : Theft – 12:15pm. The victim told officers that she last saw her bicycle in her back yard on July 2 nd . On July 3 rd she discovered that the bike had been stolen. The victim went out of town on vacation and decided to report the incident when she returned. Chill

July 19 th : 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Shoplifting – 11:30am. Officers responded to the Family Dollar store for the report of a man who stole a quantity of liquid laundry detergent. The store manager said that the man had been bared several times from the store for his disorderly actions and threats to the employees. Officers canvassed the area for the man and were able to locate and detain him. The store manager positively identified him. He was arrested, charged with theft and remanded to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4000 block of 29 th

Police Report: July 6-12

July 12 th : 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : MIR – 1:30pm. Officers took a report regarding threats to a store employee. Two suspects, one of whom was asked to leave the store after cursing at the store manager, threatened to “get” the employee. Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road : M/V collision – 4:55pm. Officers investigated a motor vehicle collision and determined that a 2009 Chevy Tahoe was making a turn from Queens Chapel Road onto Chillum Road. Police Report: June 29 - July 5

July 5 th : 3600 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Traffic – 4:10am. Officers stopped a 2012 Nissan Altima for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s registration was suspended and there was a pick up order for the tags. The tags were seized for return to MVA and the vehicle was impounded. 2500 block of Queens Chapel Road : Assault – 4:50pm. Officers responded for the report of a domestic assault. The victim told the officers that her brother, who was under the influence of a CDS, became violent and choked her and struck her r

Police Report: June 22-28

June 28 th : Nothing significant to report. June 27 th : 3800 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant service – 1am. Officers stopped a 2011 Chevy Cobalt for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant for failing to appear in court (FTA) on a charge of driving on a suspended license. He was arrested on the warrant, issued several traffic citations and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4000 block of 34 th Street : Warrant service – 1:40am. Police Report: June 15-21

June 21 st : 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Aggravated assault – 12:25pm. Officers responded for the report of a man with a knife threatening people. When the officers arrived they spoke with a victim who said that the man became angry when he tried to negotiate the purchase of cigarettes. The man produced a silver knife and swung it at the victim. The victim fled the scene so as not to be injured. Officers located the suspect and found him in possession of a silver knife. The victim positively identified him as his assailant. The man was arrested, charg
