Police Report: March 26-30

March 26 th : 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : M/V collision – 12pm. The driver of a 1998 Nissan was driving on the service road when he struck a parked 2015 Nissan causing minor damage to the front driver’s side bumper. The driver of the striking vehicle left his contact information for the owner of the parked vehicle who was unable to be located. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Warrant service – 11pm. March 19 th : 4700 block of 30 th Street : Emergency petition – 9am. Family members of a 51 year old woman told officers that she came home intoxicated, told them that she wanted to die and began cutting her wrists with a knife. Family members were able to get the knife away from her and restrained her until police arrived. Fire/rescue personnel transported the woman to Prince George’s Hospital where she was released to medical personnel for emergency treat and evaluation. 3100 block of Buchanan Street : Vehicle impound – 10:55am. March 12 th : 4200 block of Kaywood Drive : Domestic assault – 1:20am. The victim told officers that she and her husband got into a verbal argument as he was driving her car. He began driving erratically and she had to grab the vehicle’s keys to get him to stop. When she got out of the car her husband punched her in her back and side before leaving the scene. Officers later found the vehicle abandoned in the area of Arundel Road and Russell Avenue. Snow Emergency Announcement

In preparation for the forecasted winter weather event, The City of Mount Rainier has declared a Snow Emergency to be in effect beginning at 6:00pm on Monday, March 13, 2017. Parking on Emergency Routes is prohibited during a Snow Emergency. The Mount Rainier Police will ticket and tow vehicles that remain parked on a snow emergency route one hour after snow begins to fall. Emergency routes are as follows: 1. 34th Street from Eastern Avenue to Arundel Road 2. Chillum Road from Arundel Road to the City boundary at Queens Chapel Road, MD Rt. 500 3. Rainier Avenue from 34th Street to Upshur Street 4. Upshur Street from Rainier Avenue to 28th Place 5. 28th Place from Upshur Street to Russel Avenue 6. Russell Avenue from 28th Place to Arundel Road 7. Varnum Street from Russel Avenue to Eastern Avenue 8. March 5 th : 4000 block of 34 th Street : Theft – 2:40pm. The victim told officers that she was unpacking items from a friend’s vehicle at Red Dirt Studios and when she was from the vehicle for a short time her purse was stolen. 4200 block of Kaywood Drive : Strong arm robbery – 6:45pm. The victim told officers that while he was walking home he was approached by two unknown black males who grabbed him and repeatedly punched and kicked him. He fell to the ground and the suspects his went through his pockets and stole his cell phone, wallet and a quantity of cash. The

February 26 th : 3200 block of Queenstown Drive : Lost property – 4:35pm. A man reported that he lost his passport issued by the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He said that he suspects he lost ot back of February 4 at about 8pm. February 27 th : 3800 block of 34 th Street : Criminal citation – 10:20am. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public. 2200 block of Varnum Street : Fraudulent checks – 3:15pm.
