Armed Robbery Suspects

The Prince George’s County Police Department is working to identify and locate the suspects shown in the attached surveillance photographs. On January 28th, 2016, at about 6:50am the suspects committed an armed robbery in the area of the 4600 block of 27th Avenue in Mount Rainier. Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is asked to call RID- North/Robbery Suppression Team at 301-699-2601 as soon as possible. Please refer to case number PP16012800000267. A cash reward of up to $2,500.00 is being offered. ** - The suspect pictured on the left was apprehended by MRPD officers at about 7:45pm on January 28th. He was positively identified by the victim and charged with felony armed robbery.

Snow Emergency Lifted

The City of Mount Rainier’s snow emergency will be lifted at noon on Thursday January 28 th .   Michael E. Snow Emergency Declaration and City Offices Closing

The City of Mount Rainier has declared a snow emergency that will go into effect at 1pm on Friday and remain in effect until streets are declared safe and passable. Vehicles parked on a designated snow emergency route are subject to a $100 fine and towing at the owner's risk and expense. Mount Rainier City offices will close at 1pm on Friday and remain closed until Monday morning. Essential public safety and public works employees will remain on duty throughout the weekend snow emergency.

Police Report: December 27 - January 2

January 2 nd : 3100 block of Queenstown Drive : Theft – 8pm. The victim told officers that after cashing a check he placed the money in his wallet that was secured by a chain to his belt. Later he was accosted by two individuals who accosted him, grabbed his wallet and pulled the chain until it broke free of his belt. Both suspects then fled in an unknown direction. Mount Rainier Community Garden – 31 st Street and Arundel Road : Found bicycle – 11:05pm. A witness reported that a bicycle had been left abandoned for some time. December 26 th : 3300 block of Chillum Road: Hit and run collision – 4:45am. Officers responded for the report of a single vehicle collision. When they arrived they located a 2003 Ford Windstar van that had struck a power pole. The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. The pole was moved several inches and cracked about half way up. The vehicle was impounded. PEPCO responded to the scene to brace the pole and advised that the pole would have to be replaced. 2900 block of Allison Street : Vehicle impound – 8:45am. Officers impounded a
