Lookout

The Mount Rainier Police Department is currently interested in questioning the operator of a white Ford pickup truck possibly involved in a rash of burglaries that have occurred in the City since the beginning of December 2006. The pickup truck is described as having tool boxes installed in the bed. The following two pictures give a general idea of the color and style of the truck and how the tool boxes would look.

Anyone seeing this type of vehicle driving or parked in the City is asked to call the MRPD Communications Center at 301-985-6565 or 6566.

Burglary Arrest

At about 1pm this afternoon MRPD officers received a call for suspicious persons in the 3100 block of Webster Street. While searching the area officers discovered the suspects on the front porch of of a house in the 4100 block of Rainier Avenue. Officers stopped the two and upon further investigation determined that the two were in the process of breaking into the home when the officers arrived. The two were found in possession of items that had been stolen in a Brentwood burglary earlier in the day and in possession of a loaded Ruger 45 caliber handgun taken in a Brentwood burglary back in October. The two were arrested and will be preliminarily charged with burglary and possession of the stolen handgun. Custody of the two was transferred to PGPD District I detectives for interrogation and additional charges. The two are being looked at as suspects in the rash of burglaries we have experienced over the past month.
