Who says there’s no such thing as a free ride?
Metro will offer just that to school-age children on weekdays between 2 PM and 7 PM in Prince George’s County. The Metro Board approved the perk on July 26th. The free rides begin Monday August 20th coinciding with the first day of the new school year.
Middle school and high school aged students will be asked to display a current school photo identification card to identify themselves as eligible for the free-ride program.
Prince George’s County is picking up the $300,000 tab for the free rides program. The program will continue through the end of Metro’s fiscal year on June 30, 2008. Metrobus operates 82 routes here in Prince George’s County.
