Court Monitoring Volunteers Needed

MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) will host its first Court Monitoring training session for interested volunteers on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 at the MADD Office, 10440 Shaker Drive, Columbia, MD, 21046 (Located behind PNC Bank). The training will run from 10:00am-1:00pm and lunch will be served.

The training will include all information needed to participate as an official MADD Court Monitor. The program will be launched in Baltimore, Montgomery, Prince Georges and Anne Arundel Counties, and MADD needs committed volunteers to make the program work. Interested volunteers need to be available on weekdays during normal court hours in order to participate. Volunteers will be trained on how to evaluate judges, prosecutors, defense lawyers and court staff for preparedness, understanding the law, treatment of victims and the manner in which DUI court proceedings are held. Volunteers will also be given the appropriate monitoring materials.

Volunteers must register by August 14th so that MADD can plan accordingly. To register, or if you have questions about the program or the training, please contact MADD’s Court Monitoring Project Specialist, Ayodele Warburton at 410-964-5757 or by e-mail at ayodele.warburton@madd.org.
