Police Report: December 4-6

Friday December 4th:

4200 block of Kaywood Drive: At about 8 am officers took a report of a stolen vehicle. The owner of a red 1996 Ford F150 pickup truck (expired DC tags AD2468) told the officers that he came out to his truck this morning to discover that it had been stolen sometime during the previous night. There was no evidence found at the scene that would lead to the identification of those responsible for the theft.

3600 block of Wells Avenue: At about 6 p.m. officers issued a criminal citation to a man observed urinating in public.

2300 block of Arundel Road (Grand China): At about 7 p.m. officers issued a criminal citation to a man observed drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place.

Russell Avenue & Arundel Road: While issuing the criminal citation listed above, officers observed a white Lincoln Continental driving down Russell Avenue with no headlights. As the vehicle approached the officers could clearly hear loud music blaring from the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was issued three State traffic citations for driving without headlights, driving with blue lights visible from the front of the vehicle and for the loud music violation.

3300 block of Buchanan Street: At about 7 p.m. officers responded for the report of an attempted residential burglary. He resident told the officers that when he returned home he discovered that someone had tried to get into his apartment through a small bathroom window. They were apparently unsuccessful because the resident could not find any of his property disturbed or missing. The window was processed for latent evidence with negative results. No other evidence or witnesses could be located.

2500 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 10:20 p.m. officers from the Prince George’s County Police responded for a homicide. When they arrived they discovered a man in a hallway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals who were charged with the crime. This homicide was reported in various media outlets as having occurred in Mount Rainier when it in fact happened outside the City in an unincorporated area of Hyattsville.

3300 block of Buchanan Street: At about 11:15 p.m. officers on patrol came upon an injured man lying in the street bleeding from his nose and head. The officers summoned fire/rescue personnel who treated the man on the scene and then transported him to Prince George’s Hospital for further treatment. The officers interviewed him at the hospital and he told them that all he could remember was that he was attacked from behind and beaten. He could not give any sort of description of the person(s) who attacked him and caused his injuries. The officers, along with PGPD robbery detectives, could not determine if the man had been the victim of a robbery other than being assaulted. A follow-up investigation will be conducted when the victim recovers sufficiently from his injuries in hopes that he will remember additional details.

Saturday, December 5th:

2400 block of Arundel Road: At about 3:20 a.m. officers issued a criminal citation to a man for consuming an alcoholic beverage in a public place.

2700 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 3:30 a.m. officers from the Prince George’s County Police responded for a homicide. The decedent was discovered unresponsive by a jogger and fire/rescue personnel responded and pronounced him dead at the scene. PGPD homicide detectives are conducting the investigation. This homicide was reported in various media outlets as having occurred in Mount Rainier when it in fact happened outside the City in an unincorporated area of Hyattsville.

2700 block of Arundel Road: At about 8:30 p.m. officers issued a criminal citation to each of six men for consuming alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle.

Sunday, December 6th:

2400 block of Arundel Road: At about 1:30 a.m. officers issued a criminal citation to a man for consuming an alcoholic beverage in a public place.

3200 block of Chillum Road: At about 2 a.m. officers received a call for a man sleeping in a hallway. Further investigation revealed that the man had an open warrant through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor theft charge. The man was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3249 Rhode Island Avenue: At about 2:45 a.m. a man came into the police station stating that he wanted to turn himself in on an open arrest warrant. A wanted check confirmed that he was wanted by the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving an uninsured vehicle. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
