Police Report: March 30-31

March 30th : 3300 block of Buchanan Street : At about 4:30 pm officers took a report of a theft from auto . The officers determined that sometime between midnight and 8:30 am someone broke out a window on the victim’s vehicle and stole a GPS unit that was on the dash. No evidence or witnesses were located. 2900 block of Allison Street : At about 7:25 pm officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim/owner showed the officer where someone had stolen the expiration sticker off his MD license plate. The theft occurred sometime between 11:30 am and the time of the report. 3200 block of Queenstown Drive : At about 10:15 pm officers responded for the report of a vandalism to auto . They discovered that sometime between the hours of 2:00pm and 10:15pm someone broke a window on the victim’s vehicle but did not remove anything or try and steal the car. March 29th : 4500 block of 30th Street : At about 9:50 pm officers received a call for a theft from auto . The victim told the officers that he parked his vehicle across from a residence he was visiting at about midnight. When he returned to his vehicle at about 10:30 am he discovered that someone had broken out a window and stole an electronic device from inside. No evidence that would lead to the identity of the thief was located. March 30th (early morning) : 4000 block of 36th Street : At about 12:10 am officers responded for the report of an assault involving a handgun that occurred a short time earlier. The officers’ investigation revealed that a man pulled a gun on his child’s mother and her boyfriend and threatened to harm them. Although the suspect had left the scene prior to the officers’ arrival the officers were able to locate and arrest him at an address on 34th Street. Friday, March 26th: 4200 block of 30th Street : At about 11:30 am officers took a report of vandalism . The resident showed the officers where someone shot her home several times with paint balls. She said that although the paint could be washed off she wanted to report the incident to police first. 3000 block of Taylor Street : At about 8:40 am officers took a report of an attempted theft from auto . The victim showed the officers where someone broken the rear vent window of a green 2002 Mitsubishi Montero. Those responsible were able to gain entry into the car and tried unsuccessfully to steal the radio. A canvass of the area for evidence and/or witnesses was negative. 3000 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 9:45 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that a passenger in the vehicle had an open arrest warrant through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for making a false statement to a police officer. 2500 block of Arundel Road : At about 7:20 am officers took a report of an attempted stolen auto . The officers found that someone broke into the victim’s car through the sunroof and once inside tried to steal it by manipulating the ignition. The thieves were not successful. No evidence was found that would assist officers in identifying those responsible. 2900 block of Allison Street : At about 7:30 am officers took a report of an attempted theft from auto . The officers learned that someone broke into the victim’s car through the sunroof and attempted to steal the car’s stereo. The thieves were not successful. Although the officers found no evidence they believe that the same person(s) who tried to steal the car on Arundel Road were also involved in this crime. 3000 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 7 pm officers took an unattended death report. A 74 year old man was found unresponsive in his apartment after fire/rescue personnel forcibly entered the apartment to check his

4200 block of Russell Avenue : At about 12 pm officers took a theft report. The victim told the officers that while doing laundry someone stole two of his bathroom mats and fled the area. There was no evidence that would lead to the identification of the thief.

Police Report: March 20-21

Saturday March 20th : 3700 block of 37th Street : At about 3:25 pm officers on patrol came across an abandoned Dodge Stratus. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen from an address in Dc on March 12th. The vehicle was impounded and the owner was notified of the recovery. Sunday March 21st : Nothing significant to report.

Police Report: March 18-19

March 18th : 3700 block of 35th Street : At about 2:45 pm officers took a report of a stolen mini bike . The victim/owner told the officers that the Baja mini bike was taken from the back yard sometime between 2:30 and 4 pm. No evidence or witnesses to the theft could be found. 3000 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 2:45 pm officers took a stolen property report. The reporting person told the officers that a Dewalt saw valued at $180.00 had been stolen from inside a secured storage area. There was no evidence of forced entry or damage to the door/locks. Only one individual had keys to the area at the time of incident and officers will be following up to see what involvement, if any, he had in the theft. 2700 block of Arundel Road : At about 7:20 pm officers stopped a silver colored GMC that they observed leaving the Gran China parking lot at a high rate of speed and the driver not wearing a seatbelt. 3700 block of 35th Street : At about 8:10 pm officers stopped an individual for consuming an alcoholic beverage in a public place. She was issued a criminal citation for the violation and sent on her way. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 10:30 pm officers stopped an individual for consuming an alcoholic beverage in a public place. He was issued a criminal citation for the violation and sent on his way. 3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue : At about 11:50 pm officers on foot patrol observed an individual purchasing alcoholic beverages for two others. The man who made the purchase was able to flee the area before the officers could stop and identify him. One of the individuals for whom the alcohol was intended was issued a criminal citation for providing false information to the officers in an attempt to conceal his identity. 4200 block of 28th Street : At about 11:50 pm officers responded for a citizen armed robbery . Police Report: March 16

4300 block of Kaywood Drive : At about 7 am the owner of a 2002 Dodge Caravan came into the police station to report that her Maryland license plates (39508M6) had been stolen sometime between 4 pm and 11 pm on the evening of March 14th. 3100 block of Upshur Street : At about 9:45 am officers responded for the report of a possible stolen vehicle . The officers found a 1995 Honda and a stolen check revealed that it had been reported stolen from an address in NW DC. The vehicle was impounded and MPD and the owner were notified of the recovery. 28th Street and Eastern Avenue : At about 11:25 pm officers stopped to investigate a disabled vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol . He was arrested, charged appropriately and his vehicle was impounded.

Police Report: March 15

30th Street and Queens Chapel Road : At about 3:30 pm officers investigated a two-car collision . There were no serious injuries, however both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Traffic Alert : The Town of Brentwood has installed a speed camera on 38th Street just past Shepherd Street. This is a school zone so please watch your speed and obey the posted speed limit when driving through the area. Let's all do our part to keep our children safe !

Police Report: March 11-14

March 11th : 4600 block of 27th Street : At about 12:45 pm officers took a stolen vehicle report. The victim told the officers that about a month ago he loaned his vehicle to a family member who had yet to return it. The victim had obtained an arrest warrant for the family member charging him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The vehicle is described as a gray 1995 Buick Riviera with Maryland tags 3FTT74. 4400 block of 29th Street : At about 6:50 pm officer took a report of a vandalism to auto . The victim told the officers that she was driving down the street when someone threw rocks at her car. The car suffered a broken rear window. The officers canvassed the area for the persons involved with negative results. 4200 block of Russell Avenue : At about 9 pm officers took a missing person report. The parents of a 12 year old chronic run away told the officers that their daughter did not return home from school, again. The officers tried unsuccessfully to locate the child

2800 block of Shepherd Street : At about 9:15 am officers took a report of a stolen car . The victim/owners told the officers that they parked their vehicle by their residence the night before and returned to discover it had been stolen. The car is a Dodge Intrepid with Maryland tags 1FVP89. The officers found no evidence or witnesses that would help identify those responsible for the theft. 2900 block of Arundel Road : At about 7:30 pm officers took a report of an assault . The officers spoke with the 14-year old victim who said that he was walking home from playing basketball in the park when he was jumped and beaten by four black males. He said that he was not injured in the altercation and that after he managed to throw one of his attackers to the ground all four fled on foot to a waiting metro bus. March 9th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 7:30 am officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim told the officers that she left her purse inside her unlocked vehicle when she went it to pay for gas. When she returned her purse had been stolen. No evidence remained that would help officers identify the thief. March 10th (early morning) : 3800 block of Cedar Lane Alley : At about 12:05 am officers stopped a woman attempting to urinate in the alley. Further investigation revealed that she was in possession of CDS paraphernalia . She was issued a criminal citation for the violation and sent on her way. 3200 block of Arundel Road : At about 1:30 am officers stopped a 1997 BMW for a traffic violation . Further investigation revealed that the Virginia tags on the BMW belonged on a 1993 Ford. The driver was issued four Maryland state traffic citations and the vehicle was impounded.

Police Report: March 8-9

March 8th : 2200 block of Varnum Street : At about 8 pm officers stopped three individuals for a field interview, one of which was in possession of an open container of alcohol. Further investigation revealed that one of the three had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The man with the open container was issued a criminal citation for the violation and sent on his way. March 9th (early morning) : 3200 block of Varnum Street : At about 12:30 am officers on patrol observed a Ford pickup truck parked on the wrong side of the road with several occupants. A field interview was conducted on the occupants and the officers discovered that one occupant was in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. He was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Police Report: March 5-7

Friday March 5th : Nothing significant to report. Saturday March 6th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday March 7th : 32nd Street and Rainier Avenue : At about 9:45 pm officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. As the officers attempted to catch up with the vehicle it also failed to stop at a stop sign. Once officers were able to get the vehicle stopped they determined that the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DUI.

Police Report: March 4

38th Street at Rhode Island Avenue : At about 9:30 pm officers stopped a suspicious vehicle to conduct a field interview on the occupants. During the interview the officers discovered that both the driver and the passenger were in possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Both men were issued criminal citations for the violation and sent on their way. 3300 block of Otis Street : At about 7 pm units from the Prince George's County Sheriff’s Office served search and arrest warrants on three individuals in connection with a homicide that occurred outside the city. Two men and one woman were taken into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County Police Criminal Investigation Division for questioning. MRPD officers assisted with perimeter security only and were not involved in the arrests.

Police Report: March 1-3

March 1st : Nothing significant to report. March 2nd : 3300 block of Bunker Hill Road : At about 10:10 am officers took a report of a theft from auto. The victim/owner told the officers that she parked and secured her vehicle at about 10 am. When she returned to it about 5 minutes later she discovered that someone had smashed out the front passenger window and stole several items of her personal property. No evidence or witnesses to the crime could be located. Rhode Island Avenue & 34th Street : At about 3 pm officers investigated a two-vehicle traffic collision. Their investigation revealed that the collision was caused by one driver failing to yield the right of way to a second vehicle in the traffic circle. Damage to both vehicles was minimal and there was no damage to City or State property. Both vehicles were drivable after the collision. 3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue : At about 3:30 pm officers took a report of a theft of a television. The victim/owner told the

February 26th : Nothing significant to report. February 27th : 3200 block of Chillum Road : At about 7:30 am officers took a report of a theft from auto. The victim/owner told the officers that sometime during the overnight hours someone broke into his 1995 Chevy Impala and stole a radio. No evidence or witnesses could be found. Arundel Road and Russell Avenue : At about 9 pm officers stopped an individual for a field interview. During the interview he was found to have an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving an uninsured motor vehicle. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue : At about 11:30 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic offense. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a driver’s license. He was issued the appropriate citations and sent on his way. His vehicle was impounded for safekeeping. Februa
