Police Report: Week of May 15-21

May 15th : 2300 block of Arundel Road : Warrant arrest – 12:15 am. Officers arrested a man who had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for multiple traffic violations. 2300 block of Arundel Road : Criminal citation – 8:15 pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking in public. May 16th : 4000 block of 34th Street : Theft from auto – 10:15 am. The owner of a 2003 Toyota reported the theft of two cell phones from inside his vehicle. One Municipal Place : Criminal citation – 12:45 pm. Officers issued a woman a criminal citation for urinating in public. 2200 block of Varnum Street : Warrant arrest – 5:30 pm. Officers arrested a man on an open arrest warrant. A search of his person incident to arrest revealed that he was in possession of marijuana. In addition to the warrant he was charged with possession of a CDS. May 8th : 3700 block of Bunker Hill Road : Theft from auto – 10:50 am. The owner of a 2007 Honda Pilot reported that someone broke out the driver’s side window and stole a Pioneer GPS/DVD player. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Domestic assault – 7:45 pm. A man was arrested for 2nd degree domestic assault after striking his female partner during an argument. May 9th : 37th Street and Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant arrest – 5:20 pm. A man was arrested on an open arrest warrant issued through Montgomery County for violation of a peace order. 3300 block of Chauncey Place : Vandalism to auto – 11:25 am. The owner of a 2002 Volkswagen reported that someone scratched profanity on the vehicle’s hood, driver’s side door and rear quarter panel. 3500 block of 37th Street : Warrant arrest – 10:25 pm. Officers arrested a man who had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license. May 10th : 4501 E

Police Report: May 4-7

May 4th : 4000 block of 37th Street: Theft – 6:45 am. A black Schwinn Ranger 6.2FS bicycle was stolen off a back porch. May 5th : 3200 block of Queenstown Drive : Vehicle impound – 1:30 am. A 1999 Toyota truck was impounded because the driver did not possess a valid license. 4400 block of 29th Street : Warrant arrest – 2:05 am. After a traffic stop a man was arrested on an open warrant from Montgomery County for failing to appear in court on a charge of CDS possession. 3300 block of Chillum Road : Vehicle impound – 9:30 am. A 2001 Dodge Caravan was impounded because the registration was suspended and the driver’s license was also suspended. 4100 block of 31st Street : Domestic – 10:55 am. A man was arrested for violating a domestic protection order. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Criminal citation – 7:40 pm. Police Report: May 3

4200 block of 34 th Street : Unfounded vandalism – 7 pm. Officers responded for the report of vandalism. The officers spoke with a resident who believed that a broken window in his apartment was caused by an act of vandalism. The officers determined that the window was actually broken by overgrown shrubs and not by a criminal act.

Police Report: May 2-3

May 2nd : 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Theft over $500 – 11:10 am. The victim told officers that she was missing a large sum of money from her bank account. Further investigation revealed that the victim’s granddaughter was withdrawing funds from the account without authorization. Charges against the granddaughter are pending. 2700 block of Webster Street : Stolen vehicle – 3:20 pm. The owner of a 1999 Ford F-450 truck told officers that he parked his truck in front of his sister’s apartment at about 6 pm on May 1st. When he returned to the vehicle this afternoon he discovered that it had been stolen. 30th and Allison Streets : Narcotics arrest – 8:20 pm. Officers stopped a 2006 Nissan Altima for multiple traffic violations. Further investigation revealed that the driver and passenger were both in possession of marijuana. Police Report: April 14-15

April 14th : 3200 block of Queenstown Drive : Vandalism – 7:50 pm. The resident told officers that his younger son was sitting in the living room when a rock was thrown through the living room window. The son ran to the window and observed an unknown black male running away between the buildings. 4200 block of Rainier Avenue : Motor vehicle collision – 9:30 pm. Officers responded for the report of a multiple vehicle collision. Their investigation revealed that the driver of the at fault vehicle failed to pay full time and attention to his driving and was driving at a speed greater than reasonable and prudent for the road conditions. As a result the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck two parked cars. The driver was issued three State traffic citations and his vehicle was impounded. The owners of the parked vehicles were notified. April 15th : 4200 block of 34th Street : Fraud – 10 am. Officers interviewed the victim of a mortgage scam and learned that on March 7th

2900 block of Arundel Road : Traffic – 10:20 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a license. He was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3800 block of 34th Street : Traffic – 2:30 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a license. The co-owner of the vehicle who was a passenger in the vehicle also did not have a license. The driver was issued the appropriate State citations and the vehicle was impounded.

Police Report: April 17

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant arrest – 1:45 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that a passenger in the vehicle had an open arrest warrant through Montgomery County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4300 block of Russell Avenue : Criminal citation – 2:50 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed an open container of an alcoholic beverage accessible to the driver and he had a suspended license. The driver was issued a criminal citation for the alcohol violation and a State citation for driving on a suspended license. 3300 block of Otis Street : Theft from auto – 7 am. Police Report: April 18

4000 block of 35th Street : Warrant arrest – 8 pm. Officers on patrol observed an individual who they knew had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for possession with the intent to distribute narcotics and violation of probation. The individual was arrested without incident and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4000 block of 36th Street : Child abuse/neglect – 11:15 pm. Officers were flagged down by a man who reported finding his four year old daughter left unattended locked in an apartment. Further investigation revealed that the child’s mother left the little girl alone in an apartment so she could go out to a night club. Officers contacted the mother and requested that she return to the apartment. When she arrived she was arrested and charged with child abuse and leaving her child unattended. The child was not injured and was in good health. Child protective services was contacted and will be conducting their own investigation.

Police Report: April 19-20

April 19th : 3700 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant arrest – 12:15 am. Officers observed an individual with whom they have had repeated contacts in the past. The officers checked the man for warrants and learned that he had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license. The officers stopped and arrested and delivered him to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4300 block of Newton Place : Hit and run motor vehicle collision/narcotics arrest – 1:34 am. Officers responded for the report of a man down. Upon arrival they discovered a man lying on the ground complaining of injuries from being struck by a vehicle. The officers also found a parked Nissan Xterra with damage consistent with a hit and run collision. The officers’ investigation revealed that the incident resulted from a drug deal gone awry. 38 th and Quincy Streets : Narcotics/warrant arrest – 7:15 pm. Officers stopped a 2000 Mazda for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that both the driver and his passenger had open arrest warrants through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on charges of driving without a license. The two were removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest for the warrants. A search incident to arrest revealed that both men were in possession of marijuana with a collective weight of 12.4 grams. The two were charged with possession of marijuana and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Police Report: April 21st

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Hit and run motor vehicle collision – 11:35 am. The driver of a 2006 Honda truck told officers that as she was slowing down to enter the traffic circle she was rear ended by a Ford pickup truck. After the collision the Ford truck fled the scene north on Rhode Island Avenue. The victim’s vehicle sustained only minor damage and was drivable after the collision. The driver of the Ford truck could not be located. 3300 block of Buchanan Street : Stolen auto – 12 pm. The owner of a 1999 Dodge Intrepid reported that his vehicle was stolen on April 17th. He was unable to report the theft on the day that it occurred because he had just purchased the vehicle at an auction and all of the vehicle’s identifying paperwork was in the vehicle when it was stolen. 4200 block of 31st Street : Attempt theft from auto - 11:25 am. The owner of a 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup truck reported that someone entered his truck through the driver’s door. He said that the veh

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Disorderly conduct – 1:50 pm. Officers stopped a suspicious man for a field interview. While the officers attempted to talk with him he became increasingly hostile and vulgar. The officers got him to calm down temporarily but after he moved along down the street a couple blocks he began to repeatedly curse and yell profanity at passersby. He was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4000 block of 31st Street : Theft from auto – 3:15 pm. The owner of a 2006 Ford F-150 truck told officers that sometime between 3 pm on the 19th and today someone entered his unlocked truck and stole a GPS unit and some loose change.

Police Report: April 23

4300 block of 31st Street : Hit and run motor vehicle collision – 1 am. The reporting person told officers that as he was driving his car at the intersection of Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road he was rear ended by a 2000 Lexis. The striking vehicle immediately fled the scene and the victim followed. In the 4300 block of 31st Street the Lexis crashed into the front of a house. After the crash three African American males wearing all dark clothing were seen running from the vehicle. A Prince George’s County fire marshal responded and determined that there was only minor damage to the front porch and no major structural damage to the residence. 2400 block of Chillum Road : DWI arrest – 2:35 am. Officers patrolling the area observed a 2005 BMW traveling at a high rate of speed lose control and strike a curb. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and charged with DUI and other traffic violations. The vehicle which was disabled from striking the curb was impounded. 31st Street and Bunker Hill Road : Vandalism to auto – 8:20 am. The owner of a 2006 Honda Accord told officers that he parked and secured his vehicle at about midnight. When he returned for the vehicle this morning he discovered that someone had smashed out the front passenger window. 3200 block of Shepherd Street : Theft from auto – 9:15 am. The owner of a 2005 Honda Civic told officers that he parked and secured his vehicle at about midnight. 4200 block of Russell Avenue : Emergency petition – 1 am. Officers responded for a domestic dispute. The officers discovered that a man and woman were engaged in a verbal argument about relationship issues. The female, who was pregnant, threatened to commit suicide by jumping out the third floor window. The officers also learned that she suffers from depression and has attempted suicide in the past. She was transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for an emergency psychological examination. 4200 block of Russell Avenue : Hit and run motor vehicle collision – 10:20 am. The owner of a 2006 Toyota Camry reported that her car was struck by a second vehicle that failed to remain at the scene of the collision. Witnesses described the striking vehicle only as a gray truck. 4400 block of 28th Street : Warrant arrest – 6:35 pm. Officers on patrol observed an individual who was known to have an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for 2nd degree assault. The suspect was

2900 block of Arundel Road : CDS arrest – 1 am. Officers responded for several reports of a man standing on Arundel Road firing a handgun in the air. When the officers arrived on the scene the man immediately fled the area. The officers chased him to an apartment where he barricaded himself inside and refused to come out. With the assistance of officers from Hyattsville City the officers were able to force entry into the apartment and arrest the man. They seized the gun he was firing and also discovered a large quantity of narcotics inside the apartment. The officers seized over four pounds of marijuana and over $15,000 in US currency. The man was charged with numerous crimes including reckless endangerment and distribution of narcotics and delivered to the custody of DOC in Upper Marlboro. 4600 block of 25th Street : Vandalism to auto – 11 am. Police Report: April 27-28

April 27th : 4300 block of 28th Place : Theft from auto – 7:30 pm. The owner of a 2008 Nissan Altima told officers that sometime between 10 pm on April 26th and the time she reported the incident to police today someone stole the rear license plate off her vehicle. 2700 block of Webster Street : Stolen vehicle – 11:30 pm. The owner of a 2001 Dodge neon (Texas tags HVD547) told officers that she parked and secured her vehicle at 10:00 pm. When she returned to her car at 11:30 pm she discovered that it had been stolen. April 28th (early morning) : 3300 block of Buchanan Street : Recovered stolen auto – 3:20 am. Prince George’s County Police reported that their officers recovered a 1999 Dodge Intrepid in the 6500 block of Eastern Avenue in Hyattsville. The vehicle was reported stolen from the 3300 block of Buchanan Street on April 21st. There were no arrests made and the owner was contacted via phone.

Police Report: April 28-29

April 28th: 37th and Shepherd Streets : Motor vehicle crash – 10:35 am. The driver of a 1986 Pontiac was the victim of a medical emergency, lost consciousness and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a parked car and came to rest. Fire/rescue personnel responded and transported the driver to a hospital for treatment. 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP Station) : Theft from auto – 10 pm. The victim told officers that while she was pumping gas she glanced in her side view mirror and observed a black male reach in through an open window and steal her purse. She saw the suspect, describes as a black male, 18-20 years of age, 140 lbs., wearing a red t-shirt and black skull cap, get into a waiting small red SUV which fled the scene down Eastern Avenue towards Queens Chapel Road. A search of the area for the suspect and the red SUV proved negative. 3200 Block Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant arrest - 11:30 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. Further inves

Police Report: April 29 - May 1

April 29th : 4600 block of 27th Street : Arson – 9:10 pm. Officers responded for the report of a suspicious fire. They discovered that someone set the victim’s mail on fire inside their mailbox. Fire/rescue personnel responded to extinguish the fire. The office of the fire marshal and US postal inspectors were notified of the incident but declined to respond and investigate. 2700 block of Allison Street : Arson – 11:10 pm. Officers responded for the report of a suspicious fire. Their investigation revealed that someone set the contents of a laundry room metal trash can on fire. Fire/rescue personnel responded to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries and no structural damage was done to the laundry room. The fire marshal responded to the scene to take over the investigation. April 30th : 3300 block of Chauncey Place : Warrant arrest – 4:40 pm. Officers responded in an attempt to locate an individual who was known to them to have an open arrest warrant. The man was locat
