Police Report: March 4-10

March 10th:

4300 block of Russell Avenue: Miscellaneous incident – 6:15am. Officers responded for the report of a possible sexual assault. The officers’ investigation revealed that a known female prostitute was picked up by two men at a club in DC. When the woman went to leave the residence she asked the men for a ride home. When they declined to give her a ride she called police and reported that she had been sexually assaulted. When officers questioned her about the alleged assault she refused to answer the officers’ questions and said she only wanted a ride home. When the officers told her she would get a ride only after they completed their investigation she refused to speak with them further and left on foot.

2900 block of Bunker Hill Road: Vandalism to auto – 9am. The owner of a 2001 Dodge Neon told officers that sometime between 5:45pm on the 9th and 6:30am this morning someone smashed out the rear driver’s side window of her vehicle. Evidence showed that the vehicle’s interior had been ransacked but nothing was stolen.

3600 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Miscellaneous incident – 12pm. Officers were called to the area by a person who discovered a bone while cleaning out a drainage ditch. The officers photographed the bone and contacted the Maryland Anthropologic Institute. The institute was able to tell officers by looking at the photos that the bone was not that of a human.

4000 block of 32nd Street: Recovered stolen auto – 4pm. Officers were notified by MPD that a 1989 Chevy Celebrity reported stolen from the 4000 block of 32nd Street on March 3rd was recovered in the 1200 block of Michigan Avenue, NE. The vehicle was in drivable condition and no arrests were made.

3300 block of Queenstown Drive: Criminal citation – 9:25pm. Officers were called to the area to assist Queenstown security officers with a disorderly male. Officers issued the man a criminal citation for disorderly conduct and sent him on his way without further incident.

March 9th:

4200 block of Kaywood Drive: 2nd Degree Assault – 1:25am. Officers responded for a loud noise complaint. When they arrived the attempted to speak with a man in the apartment where the noise was coming from. The man became disorderly and the officers’ attempts to get the man to calm down went unheeded. The man proceeded to assault the officers whereupon they were forced to deploy their issued OC spray to get him under control and under arrest. Fire/rescue personnel responded to treat the man for his exposure to the OC spray. He was charged with disorderly conduct and 2nd degree assault on the officers and delivered to the custody of DOC in Upper Marlboro.

3800 block of 31st Street: Theft from auto – 7am. The owner of a 2005 Chrysler 300 told officers that sometime between 11pm on the 8th and the time she called police someone smashed out the passenger side window and stole a purse and a black preachers robe.

3100 block of Bunker Hill Road: Theft from auto – 10am. The owner of a 1999 Honda Accord told officers that sometime between 7:30pm on the 8th and the time he called police someone smashed out the passenger side window and stole an iPhone and a set of headphones.

March 8th:

One Municipal Place: Theft – 9:30am. The victim told officers that when she got off the Metro bus she was approached by a man who asked to use her cell phone. The victim told the man he could use the phone as long as he didn’t run off with it. The man pretended to use the phone and then ran off with it.

March 7th:

3300 block of Buchanan Street: Vandalism – 1:30pm. The resident told officers that sometime between 11am and 1:20pm today someone tried to pry open the front door to her apartment. Officers determined that no one had gained entry into the apartment and noting was reported missing/stolen.

4000 block of 32nd Street: Stolen auto – 1:40pm. The owner of a 1989 Chevy Celebrity told officers that sometime between 1am this morning and the time he called police someone stole his vehicle.

March 6th:

34th Street and Windom Road: Traffic/vehicle impound – 1:25pm. Officers stopped a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s registration was suspended and that there was an MSP pick-up order on the tags. The driver was issued several traffic citations, the tags were removed for return to MVA and the vehicle was impounded.

March 5th:

4100 block of 34th Street: Vandalism – 7:30pm. The resident told officers that sometime between 10:35am and 6pm today someone broke a pane of glass out of the outer storm door.

March 4th:

4300 block of 28th Place: Vehicle impound – 9am. Officers impounded a 2001 Chevy truck for failing to display registration plates. Officers also discovered that the plates that should have been on the vehicle were suspended for an emissions violation.

3300 block of Bunker Hill Road: Theft from auto – 5:45pm. The reporting person told officers that sometime between 9:30pm on March 3rd and 5:30pm on the 4th someone broke into a 2005 Toyota Echo through the right rear vent window and stole the vehicle’s radio. The reporting person made the report on behalf of the vehicle’s owner who was in the hospital and unable to make the report herself.

2900 block of Allison Street: Emergency petition – 7:40pm. Officers responded for the report of a man under the influence of CDS threatening his family. When the officers arrived they met with the family who told them that the man was inside their apartment and had been drinking, using cocaine and had threatened to kill them. Officers entered the apartment, took the man into custody and delivered him to the medical staff at Washington Adventist Hospital for treatment.

Most of these remote entry devices have a panic button that activates your vehicle’s security alarm system. Test it. It will activate from almost anywhere inside your house and will keep honking and flashing the lights until either your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the remote entry fob. It works if your vehicle is parked in your driveway or garage.
