Earlier this afternoon a citizen called in a complaint about a suspicious person pushing a small motorcycle down the street. Within a few moments officers were in the area and located the motorcycle, but unfortunately the suspicious person was nowhere to be found. About 45 minutes passed and while the officers were waiting for a tow truck for the bike the owner called Communications to report the bike stolen. I think he was pretty happy when we told him we had already recovered it!
The owner came by and picked up his bike and was able to thank the citizen whose initial call resulted in a happy ending.
The MRPD would also like to extend its thanks to our vigilant citizen - an excellent example of how citizens can help each other by being eyes and ears for the police.
Thanks also to Sergeant First Class Steve Malley for his report.
