Significant Drug Arrest

At about 11:45am this morning officers of the Mount Rainier Police Department, along with officers from the Hyattsville City and Bladensburg police departments, served a search and seizure warrant in the 4100 block of 30th Street in Mount Rainier. The warrant was obtained after a two-month long drug distribution investigation.

As a result of the warrant the officers made one arrest and seized 20.29 ounces of liquid PCP having a street value of $32,464; over 200 clear baggies commonly used for narcotics distribution; two digital scales; four cell phones; and other miscellaneous narcotics paraphernalia. A second related search and seizure warrant was executed at a separate location where additional items of evidence were seized.

The arrestee will be charged with multiple counts of narcotics possession, narcotics distribution and acting as a drug kingpin. The arrestee faces a mandatory five year, no parole sentence if convicted on the distribution charge. If convicted on the drug kingpin charge he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years without the possibility of parole.

Community Shredding Day

Please mark you calendars for Saturday July 18th, 2009 for community shredding day. Priority One Shredding of Bowie, Maryland will provide free personal shredding services and secure document destruction from 8 am until 11am at the Bunker Hill Fire Station. Residents are welcome to watch their documents being destroyed, and once the shredding process is completed, the remains are locked in the mobile destruction unit until the paper is recycled. Priority One will also provide residents with a variety of identity theft prevention information free of charge. Priority One will be onsite from 6-9 pm providing shredding services to residents again, free of charge .

Citizen Armed Robbery Update - ARREST MADE

On July 7 th MRPD officers took a report of a citizen armed robbery that took place in the 2700 block of Allison Street at about 3:30am. A follow-up investigation by PDPD District I Robbery Suppression Team detectives identified a suspect who was positively identified by the victim. The suspect was charged with the crime of robbery and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.
