Police Report: December 25-31

December 25th:

4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station): At about 4:45 p.m. officers took a report of a theft from auto. The victim told the officers that she went inside the station to pay for her gas and when she returned to her vehicle she discovered her purse had been stolen. The station’s surveillance tapes showed that a black male wearing a reflective vest opened the unlocked passenger door and stole the purse. He then got into a dark colored station wagon and drove off. A search of the area for the suspect proved negative.
December 26th:

1 Municipal Place: At about 12:40 a.m. officers took a theft report. The victim told the officers that while sitting at the bus stop someone stole his wallet. He said that he felt a black male brush against the right side of his body and later discovered that his wallet was missing from his right pocket. No other information was available about the suspect at the time of the report.

2500 block of Arundel Road: At about 12:50 a.m. officers impounded an illegally parked red 1998 Dodge Caravan. The male driver who was asleep in the driver’s seat was issued three State citations and sent on his way.

December 27th:

3249 Rhode Island Avenue (MRPD): At about 12:45 p.m. contacted a female juvenile who told them that she was a runaway from her foster home. Further investigation revealed that there was a current court order in force that she remain at The Matters Group Home for an evaluation. A representative of the home responded to MRPD to take custody of the juvenile.

December 28th:

4600 block of 30th Street: At about 12:15 p.m. officers arrested a man for assaulting his mother with an open hand and a telephone as she attempted to call 911. He was charged with domestic assault and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4300 block of Upshur Street: At about 11:45 p.m. officers responded for an excessive noise complaint. During their investigation the identified a man who had an open arrest warrant through Arizona for forgery. The warrant was extraditable so he was arrested and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

December 29th:

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 1:50 a.m. officers took a report of an armed carjacking. The victim told the officers that she was sitting in a red 2007 Toyota Solara (MD tag 6FRF43) when she was approached by two black males armed with handguns who physically removed her from the vehicle and threw her to the ground. They then got into the vehicle and drove away in an unknown direction. The victim sustained scrapes to her knees but was otherwise unharmed. A canvass of the area by MRPD and surrounding police units proved negative.

4600 block of 27th Street: At about 8 a.m. officers took a stolen car report. The victim/owner told the officers that sometime during the previous evening/early morning someone stole his white 1997 Honda Accord (MD tag 6FBF11) from in front of his address. A canvass of the area for evidence/witnesses was negative.

2900 block of Allison Street: At about 5:45 p.m. officers took a report of a strong arm robbery. The victim told the officers that he was followed from Checkers by two black males who yelled to him to give them his phone. When he tried to walk away and ignore them they physically assaulted him and took the phone by force. They then fled the area in an unknown direction.

4200 block of 31st Street: At about 7:30 p.m. officers met with a resident who told them that when she returned home from work she discovered the front door lock and glass broken out. It appeared to the officers that the door had been pried open. The victim said that several personal electronic items were stolen along with a small quantity of coins. The scene was processed with negative results and a canvass of the area for additional evidence/witnesses proved negative.

3700 block of 35th Street: At about 8:45 p.m. officers stopped an individual who they new from previous contact had an open arrest warrant through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for robbery. They confirmed that warrant was still active and arrested him. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

December 30th:

4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station): At about 8 a.m. officers took a report of a theft from auto. The victim told the officers that he purse was stolen from inside her unlocked vehicle when she went into the station to pay for gas. A search of the area for evidence/witnesses or a suspect was negative.

37th Street and Rhode Island Avenue: At about 11 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle for a headlight violation. A records check revealed that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and an open arrest warrant through Montgomery County for trespassing. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4300 block of 28th Place: At about 11:30 p.m. officers took a report of an attempted carjacking. The victim told the officers that he was accosted by three black males who physically took his vehicle keys from him. They then tried to take his vehicle but were unsuccessful because the vehicle got stuck in ice. They then fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.

December 31st:

Nothing significant to report.

The following information  comes courtesy  of the  New Jersey Cybersecurity & Communications Integration Cell Public cell phone charging stations supplied with power cables or USB ports located in stores, airports, libraries, and schools may seem like a convenient way to charge your mobile devices on-the-go, but can you be sure that your device and data will be safe if you connect? These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Even if the charging station isn’t malicious, the manufacturer or owner of the kiosk may require users to input their email addresses or phone numbers in order to charge their devices, potentially exposing them to unwanted marketing campaigns, spam emails, and scam calls. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
