Police Report: October 8-10

October 8th:

4600 block of 29th Street: At about 3 pm officers took a report of a citizen armed robbery. The victim told the officers that he was approached by two men wearing ski masks. One of the men pointed a handgun at him and robbed him of his cell phone and cash. The two suspects got into a black SUV and fled the area. The victim was not able to provide a description of the suspects or a more detailed description of the SUV. PGPD detectives responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

2900 block of Arundel Road: At about 9:45 pm officers investigated a residential burglary. The victim/resident told the officers that she left her apartment at about 4 pm. At about 9:45 pm a downstairs neighbor discovered that the victim’s door had been pried open and called police. The victim reported numerous pieces of jewelry, two computers, two iPhones, and a home theater system missing from the apartment. No further evidence or witnesses were located.

October 9th:

4100 block of 28th Street: At approximately 9:30 am officers took a stolen car report. The victim/owner told the officers that he parked his blue 1994 Honda Accord EX (MD tags 6DJN36) by his residence at about midnight. When he returned to his car this morning he discovered that it had been stolen. No evidence or witnesses were located.

3200 block of Queenstown Drive: At about 11:15 am officers took a report of a strong armed robbery. The victim told the officers that two Hispanic males approached her as she was getting out of her vehicle. One of the men hit her vehicle with a baseball bat while the second man pushed her down and took her purse. The victim told the officers that she believed she was targeted because her boyfriend’s ex girlfriend hired the two men because during the robbery they said to her “you been warned.” After the robbery the two men fled the area in a green Mazda. The victim could not provide any further description of the men or the vehicle in which they fled.

Queens Chapel Road at 30th Street: At about 6:30 pm officers responded for the report of a pedestrian struck. The officers determined that a juvenile male tried to cross the street outside the crosswalk and stepped into oncoming traffic. The striking vehicle tried to avoid hitting him but was unsuccessful. The juvenile suffered minor, non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Children’s Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

34th & Newton Streets: At about 9:50 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. While speaking with the driver the officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of 22.6 grams of marijuana (street value of $452) from the driver’s person. He was arrested, charged with CDS possession and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.

4000 block of Kaywood Drive: At about 10:10 pm officers took a stolen car report. The owner of a gold 2002 Dodge Intrepid told the officers that she parked her car by her residence at about 6:30 pm on October 8th. When she returned for it today she discovered that it had been stolen. No evidence or witnesses could be located.

October 10th:

31st Street and Arundel Road: At about 1 am officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was driving an unregistered vehicle on a learners permit. He was issued eight traffic citations and the vehicle was impounded.

3800 block of 34th Street: At about 2:45 am officers closed down a large party attended by about 150+ people that spilled out into the street and adjacent parking lot. Numerous attendees were identified as being loud, disorderly and intoxicated. The patrons were cooperative and the crowd dispersed in a relatively orderly fashion. No arrests were made.

3700 block of 36th Street: At about 2 am officers observed a man driving a car who was known to them from prior contacts not to have a valid driver’s license. The car was stopped and he was arrested. A search of the man incident to his arrest revealed that he was in possession of crack cocaine. He was charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

2300 block of Varnum Street: At about 3:30 am officers responded for the report of a man bleeding in front of the 7-11 store. When the officers arrived the man told them that he had been assaulted by his boyfriend inside their apartment in the 4300 block of 28th Place. The victim had visible injuries to his throat, mouth, nose, eyes, and ears but refused medical treatment. The officers canvassed the area for the boyfriend and located him in the area of Russell Avenue and Varnum Street. He was arrested, charged with second degree assault and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

28th & Taylor Streets: At about 6 am officers took a report of a citizen armed robbery. The victims told the officers that while they were getting into their car a gray Mazda 6 pulled up next to them. Two black males got out of the Mazda with a shotgun and demanded the victim’s property. The men stole the victims’ cell phones, returned to the Mazda and fled the area. A search of the area for the vehicle and the two suspects proved negative.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
