Police Report: October 16-18

Friday October 16th:

3100 block of Varnum Street
: At about 7:45 a.m. officers took a report of a theft from auto. The officers observed that person(s) unknown entered victim’s vehicle by breaking open the driver’s side window. Once inside the thieves stole a GPS unit. A check of the area for evidence and/or witnesses proved negative.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 12:10 p.m. officers took a report of an attempted residential burglary. The victim/resident told the officers that she left home early in the morning returned to find the kitchen window open and the window screen lying on the stove. There was no evidence that the person(s) responsible actually gained entry into the apartment and nothing was found missing or disturbed.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 9:30 p.m. officers took a report of a missing juvenile (repeat offender). The child’s father told the officers that his son left home at about 9 a.m. without permission and came home at about 4 p.m. An argument ensued regarding the child’s leaving without permission whereupon the child left home again and had not returned or contacted his parents. The child’s information was entered into the NCIC missing persons database.

2700 block of Allison Street: At about 11 p.m. officers assisted a domestic violence victim. The victim told the officers that she and her husband were having on going domestic problems and that she had been the victim of abuse and assaults. She was advised to seek a protective order from a District Court Commissioner and return to MRPD once it was obtained. The victim obtained the order and officers went with her to her residence to serve the order on her husband, however he was not home. The victim was advised to contact MRPD when her husband returned or if any further threats were made.

Saturday October 17th:

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue (traffic circle): At about 8:10 p.m. officers investigated a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision. During their investigation the officers checked the license/wanted status of both drivers. They learned that the driver of the at fault vehicle did not have a valid license and had two open arrest warrants through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on charges of driving without a license and contempt. He received the appropriate traffic citations for his involvement in the collision, arrested on the warrants and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Sunday October 18th:

3400 block of Otis Street
: At about 10 a.m. officers took a report of a vandalism to auto. The victim/owner told the officers that he parked his vehicle by his residence at about 12:20 a.m. and when he returned for it around 9:45 a.m. he discovered that all four tires had been cut. The victim went on to say that he has been having an on going dispute with a rival business located in DC and that an individual from the competing business had threatened him and said that he knew where he lived. No other vehicles were vandalized in the area and no other calls for similar vandalism were received by MRPD. This believed to be an isolated incident with victim being targeted by a known suspect.

3200 block of Shepherd Street: At about 10:15 a.m. officers took a report of a theft. The victim told the officers that she left her residence on October 9th and scheduled some repairs with her landlord that were to be completed while she was away. When she returned on October 13th she discovered several items of her personal property missing. There was no evidence of forced entry into the residence.

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 4:00 p.m. power shift officers observed a parked vehicle displaying Georgia license plates. A check of the license plates revealed that they did not belong on the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.

3200 block of Chillum Road: At about 9:30 p.m. officers responded for the report of a suspicious occupied vehicle. When the officers arrived they discovered that the three occupants of the vehicle were intoxicated and in possession of several open containers of alcohol. All three were issued criminal citations.

3900 block of 38th Street: At about 10:30 p.m. power shift officers stopped a vehicle for driving with no headlights on. Further investigation revealed that one of the occupants was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested, charged and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
