Police Report: April 1-7

April 7th:

3700 block of 37th Street: DWI – 1am. Officers stopped a 1993 Toyota Corolla for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and charged with DWI/DUI. Her vehicle was released to a licensed, sober driver.

3300 block of Bunker Hill Road: Vehicle impound – 9:30am. Officers on patrol came upon a Chrysler 300 with heavy front end damage and keys in the ignition. The vehicle had not been reported stolen and the owner could not be contacted. The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

April 6th:

4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station): Theft from auto – 1am. The owner of a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser reported that when she left her vehicle unlocked with her purse inside when she went in to pay for gas. When she returned she discovered that her purse had been stolen.

2700 block of Queens Chapel Road: Stolen auto – 10:10am. The owner of a 2004 Jaguar told officers that sometime between 8pm on April 1st and 9am on the 6th someone stole his vehicle.

3800 block of 34th Street: Theft – 1pm. The victim told officers that she left $5 in cash and her driver’s license on her desk. When she went to retrieve both she discovered them missing. She said that numerous employees and visitors were in and out of the location and could have taken it.

3800 block of 34th Street: Theft – 1pm. While taking the above unrelated theft report officers were approached by another employee who reported that $460 had been stolen from her desk drawer back on April 2nd at about 5pm. She said that she received a cash payment from a client and placed the money in her desk drawer. When she returned for the money later in the day she discovered that it had been stolen.

3800 block of 34th Street: Vandalism – 1pm. The reporting person told officers that she locked and secured the door to her office at about 11am. When she returned at about 1pm she discovered that someone had damaged the lock to her office door. It appeared as if someone tried to force entry into the office but did not succeed.

2400 block of Chillum Road: Vehicle impound -8:20pm. Officers stopped a 1996 Nissan Maxima for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s registration was suspended and there was an MVA pick up order for the tags. The tags were seized for return to MVA and the vehicle was impounded.

April 5th:

3300 block of Chillum Road: Lost property – 12:30pm. A resident called to report that she accidently threw away her Tanzania passport while cleaning her apartment. A police report was required in order to get her passport replaced.

4500 block of 34th Street: Trespassing – 6:20pm. Officers responded to assist PGPD with the report of juveniles playing on the roof of Thomas Stone Elementary. The roof and school ground was checked with negative results.

3800 block of 34th Street: Citizen robbery – 9pm. Officers responded for the report of an assault. While interviewing the victim the officers learned that six black males approached him from behind and attacked him. The victim was struck several times in the face and forced to the ground. One of the assailants stole the victim’s wallet and the group fled down 34th Street towards the traffic circle. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused treatment from fire/rescue personnel. He was unable to provide a description of the men who assaulted him. He was transported to PGPD District I to give a statement to robbery detectives who will handle the follow-up investigation.

3800 block of 34th Street: Criminal citation – 10:30pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a public place.

April 4th:

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Criminal citation – 10:45am. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage in public.

April 3rd:

4400 block of 31st Street: Vandalism to auto – 10:15am. The owner of a 2003 Honda Civic told officers that sometime between 7:30pm on the 2nd and 6:35am this morning someone damaged both door locks on his vehicle. It appeared as if someone attempted to gain entry by prying the door locks but failed.

Rhode Island Avenue and Perry Street: Hit and run collision – 11:20am. Officers were alerted to a damaged light pole and traffic sign at the intersection. They discovered that sometime during the overnight hours a vehicle had collided with the pole and sign and fled the scene.

April 2nd:

4100 Block of Russell Avenue: Vehicle impound – 10am. Officers impounded a 2008 Dodge Charger for displaying expired tags. The vehicle’s registration was suspended and there was an MSP pickup order on the tags.

4100 block of Kaywood Drive: Threats – 1:35pm. The victim told officers that a former employee called and made statements she perceived to be threatening. She was referred to the District Court Commissioners office for a protective order.

4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station): Warrant service – 3:15pm. Officers stopped a man for urinating in public. Further investigation revealed that he had an open arrest warrant through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office for trespassing and disturbing the peace. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4000 block of 32nd Street: Found property – 5:30pm. Officers spoke with a homeowner who said that his landscaper found a loaded .45 caliber handgun in some bushes on his property. The officers took possession of the weapon and secured it in the Department’s property vault. An NCIC check revealed that the gun was not stolen and attempts to identify the owner are continuing.

3700 block of Wells Avenue: Vandalism to auto – 7:15pm. The owner of a 2008 Toyota Corolla told officers that sometime between 6am and 6:30pm today someone damaged his rear window.

April 1st:

3300 block of Otis Street: Theft – 12:30am. The victim told officers that as she was waiting for a cab two black males ran up behind her and snatched her purse from her right shoulder. The two then fled the area on foot north on Otis Street. A search of the area for the two suspects proved negative.

4200 block of 28th Street: Theft from auto – 7pm. The owner of a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo told officers that sometime prior to his call to police someone stole the front tag off his vehicle.

Community Shredding Day

Please mark you calendars for Saturday July 18th, 2009 for community shredding day. Priority One Shredding of Bowie, Maryland will provide free personal shredding services and secure document destruction from 8 am until 11am at the Bunker Hill Fire Station. Priority One Shredding is a leading provider of personal and business secure document destruction. Residents are welcome to watch their documents being destroyed, and once the shredding process is completed, the remains are locked in the mobile destruction unit until the paper is recycled. Priority One will also provide residents with a variety of identity theft prevention information free of charge. If you miss the community shredding day on July 18th, be sure to bring your bulk documents to National Night Out. Priority One will be onsite from 6-9 pm providing shredding services to residents again, free of charge .

Armed Robbery Suspects

The Prince George’s County Police Department is working to identify and locate the suspects shown in the attached surveillance photographs. On January 28th, 2016, at about 6:50am the suspects committed an armed robbery in the area of the 4600 block of 27th Avenue in Mount Rainier. Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is asked to call RID- North/Robbery Suppression Team at 301-699-2601 as soon as possible. Please refer to case number PP16012800000267. A cash reward of up to $2,500.00 is being offered. ** - The suspect pictured on the left was apprehended by MRPD officers at about 7:45pm on January 28th. He was positively identified by the victim and charged with felony armed robbery.
