On October 1st a new law governing a driver's actions when approaching an intersection with a non-functioning traffic signal goes into effect. Drivers will be required to stop at a clearly marked stop line; before entering a crosswalk; or before entering the intersection. Fines for violating the new law are stiff: $90 and 2 points if the violation does not cause a crash and $130 and 3 points if the violation contributes to a crash.
