Hurricane Sandy Preparation

There is an increasingly strong possibility that hurricane Sandy will affect the City and the Metro region beginning Sunday evening and extending into Tuesday. The MRPD has made preparations to have all officers available for duty during the storm and will be patrolling the City to identify hazards and other safety concerns. The Chief will provide regular updates via Twitter (@MRPDChief) as the storm develops and progresses. You can also check the department’s Facebook page (City of Mount Rainier Police Department) and the Chief’s Blog (www.mrpdchief.blogspot.com) for additional information as it becomes available.

Please take the time over the next couple of days to ensure that you, your loved ones and your property are prepared. The Hurricane Safety Checklist published by the Red Cross provides excellent information that will help you prepare for whatever Sandy has in store for us. http://www.redcross.org/images/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m4340160_Hurricane.pdf

An excellent source of information on Sandy’s progression is provided by the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang. You can read their updates on the CWG Blog at  http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang. You can also get their updates on Twitter (@capitalweather) or at Capital Weather Gang on Facebook.
