Wind Chill Advisory

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM EST TUESDAY. 

  

* WIND CHILL...5 BELOW TO 15 BELOW ZERO.  

  

* TIMING...TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY. THE LOWEST WIND CHILLS ARE

  EXPECTED TO OCCUR AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY

  MORNING. 

  

* TEMPERATURES...FALLING INTO THE TEENS THIS EVENING...THEN LOWS

  IN THE SINGLE DIGITS TONIGHT AND HIGHS IN THE TEENS TUESDAY. 

  

* WINDS...WEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH. 

  

* IMPACTS...DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILLS COULD THEN LEAD TO  

  FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA MONDAY EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY. 

  

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... 

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN 

FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.  

IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...DRESS IN LAYERS AND WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.

Police Report: September 4-8

September 4 th : 2500 block of Queens Chapel Road : Emergency petition – 4:50 am. Officers on patrol observed a highly intoxicated man walking through on-coming traffic carrying two 14” long kitchen knives. When the officers stopped the man and ordered him to drop the knives he refused and said that he wanted to die and was going to kill himself. The officers also observed that the man was bleeding from his mouth and had blood on the back of his shirt. A member of the man’s family arrived on the scene and convinced the man to drop the knives and, after a brief struggle officers were able to get him under control. Fire/rescue personnel arrived to transport the man to the hospital and during their on-scene evaluation officers observed that he had a large amount of shattered glass in his hair and on his face along with several long cut/scratch markings on his back just above his waist line.
