Police Report: March 2-8

March 8th:

3200 block of Varnum Street: EPS/CDS possession – 10:50pm. Officers responded for the report of a man passed out in the street. The officers found the man breathing but unresponsive. Further investigation reveled that he was under the influence of PCP. He was also found to be in possession of a bottle of PCP. The subject was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Officers applied for a warrant charging the man with possession of the PCP.

March 7th:

3300 block of Buchanan Street: Criminal citation – 7:15pm. Officers responded to investigate two suspicious individuals in a vehicle. Officers located the two and found them to be in possession of marijuana. They were taken into custody and transported to DOC in Hyattsville. Once at DOC they were processed, issued criminal citations for the violation and released.

3000 block of Arundel Road: Domestic – 8:30pm. Officers responded for the report of a man who was inside a woman’s apartment in violation of a protective order. When the officers arrived they found the man in the apartment and verified that he was in violation of the protective order for being there. He was arrested and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

March 6th:

3800 block of 34th Street: Warrant service – 4:15pm. Early this morning MRPD officers obtained a criminal arrest warrant for an individual charging him with 2nd degree assault and disorderly conduct. At about 4:15pm this afternoon officers found the man walking along 34th Street. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3200 block of Chillum Road: Traffic – 11:10am. Officers stopped a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a driver’s license. He was issued several State citations and the vehicle was impounded.

4200 block of 31st Street: Hit and run collision – 3:05pm. The owner of a 1991 Toyota told officers that sometime between 1am this morning and 12:30pm this afternoon an unidentified vehicle struck her car causing damage to the left rear fender.

March 5th:

34th and Varnum Streets: Citizen armed robbery – 12:20am. Prince George’s County Police patrol officers responded for the report of a citizen armed robbery that had just occurred. The officers located the victim at his residence and he told the officers that he was approached by a black male armed with a silver handgun. The suspect ordered the victim to lie on the ground and surrender his property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the area on foot. PGPD’s helicopter responded and assisted ground forces with a search for the suspect with negative results. The victim was uninjured and described his assailant as a black male; 25-30 years of age; 5”9” – 6”3” tall; 150 lbs; wearing black clothing, a black ski mask and black boots. MRPD officers were not notified of the incident until PGPD units cleared the scene because the initial call came into PGPD Communications  as having occurred in Brentwood.

March 4th:

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: 2nd degree domestic assault – 12:20am. Officers responded for the report of a domestic dispute between a husband and wife. During the dispute the husband physically assaulted his wife and left the apartment. Officers have applied for a criminal arrest warrant charging the man with 2nd degree domestic assault.

3200 block of Queenstown Drive: Warrant service – 12:30am. Officers responded to assist Queenstown security officers with a trespasser. Further investigation revealed the subject had an open warrant through Prince George’s County for driving on a suspended license. She was arrested and delivered to the custody of DOC in Upper Marlboro. Security personnel were going to seek charges for the trespassing offense. 

3500 block of Newton Place: Emergency petition – 7:10pm. Officers responded to check the welfare of a woman who was possibly suicidal. When the officers arrived they found the woman in a state of depression and learned that she had taken some medication and alcohol. She was transported to a local hospital where she was released to medical personnel for evaluation and treatment.

2400 block of Chillum Road: Pedestrian struck – 7:30pm. Officers responded for the report of a woman who had been struck by a car. When they arrived they learned that the woman was crossing in the crosswalk when a vehicle closest to the curb stopped for the pedestrian. As the pedestrian starting walking another vehicle swerved into the outside lane and struck her. She suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

March 3rd:

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Emergency petition – 9:25pm. Officers patrolling Luskin’s Plaza encountered a man who was acting erratically outside in the cold weather for an extended period of time. Further investigation revealed that the man was under the influence of PCP. The subject was unable to communicate with officers due to the effects of the drug. He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital and released to medical personnel for evaluation and treatment.

March 2nd:

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi

Police Report: June 9-10

June 9th : 2500 block of Allison Street : At about 1 pm officers took a report of a citizen robbery . The victim told the officers and PGPD robbery detectives that she arrived to meet a client when she was approached by two black males. One of the men approached her from the front; the second came up behind her and placed her in a head lock. The second man demanded the keys to her gold 2005 Honda Accord (MD tags 9FA Y36). The victim complied and the two got into her car and fled the scene. The victim described her assailants as black males about 19-20 years of age. The first man was about 5’8” tall with shoulder length dreadlocks and was wearing a white t-shirt, long jean shorts, white socks and tennis shoes. The second man was about 5’10” tall, also had shoulder length dreadlocks and was wearing a white navy hat. The officers also discovered a white 2004 Chevrolet Express van that is believed to have been driven to the scene by the two suspects. A check of the vehicle’s registration

Boston Marathon/West, Texas Spam Campaigns

There is a new spam campaign in circulation using the Boston Marathon bombings that occurred on April 15, 2013 as a lure. Users are sent an e-mail encouraging them to a watch a video of the explosion. When the user clicks on the enclosed link to watch the video malware is installed on the user’s computer.   The following URL patterns have been found in these e-mails: http://[IP-address]/boston.html   http://[IP-address]/news.html   When the user clicks on one of the links the Kehlios worm is installed on the user’s system which has the capacity to send spam; carry out Distributed Denial of Service Attacks; and steal online currency such as bitcoins. Most major anti-virus vendors have signatures for detecting this malware so users should keep their antivirus programs up-to-date.   In addition to the Boston Marathon spam campaign, a West, Texas plant explosion spam campaign has also sprung up.
