Independence Day Fireworks Locations

It is illegal for any person to manufacture, possess, store, offer for sale, sell, discharge, use, burn, or explode any fireworks in Prince George's County, Maryland, except that an authorized display may be conducted by a licensed pyrotechnic professional. Penalties for violations of the law include a fine of up to $1,000 and/or six months in jail. Sparklers are considered fireworks and burning them could cost you $250 for each one! Police Report: June 19-25

June 25 th : 31 st and Upshur Streets : Traffic – 1:55am. Officers stopped a 2003 Mercedes for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the tags affixed to the vehicle belonged to another vehicle and the vehicle itself was unregistered. The driver was issued several traffic citations and the vehicle was impounded. 3100 block of Perry Street : Attempt burglary – 3:15am. Officers responded for the report of a burglary in progress. When they arrived they learned that the homeowner was awakened by the sounds of someone trying to kick in the front door. When

The owner of a 2004 Toyota told officers that he parked his vehicle around midnight and when he returned he discovered it had been stolen. He said there was nothing of value in the vehicle. Communications had no record of the vehicle being impounded or repossessed. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Criminal citation – 9:45am. June 11 th : 2500 block of Arundel Road : Domestic – 12:15am. Officers were flagged down by a woman needing assistance. She told the officers that she believes her son was high on PCP earlier and broke a window in her apartment where they live. She requested that officers respond with her to check on the welfare of her apartment. When they got to the apartment they discovered that the son had not only broken a window but destroyed much of the apartment and furniture inside. The woman responded to the District Court Commissioner’s Office and obtained a temporary protective

June 4 th : 34 th Street and Arundel Road: Traffic collision/EPS – 10:50pm. Officers responded to investigate a two-car collision. Once on the scene they determined that the striking vehicle was a 2006 Cadillac occupied by the driver and a front seat passenger. Both men were immediately identified as being under the influence of PCP. Additional officers responded and the two were removed from the vehicle. They were transported to Washington Adventist Hospital and released to the medical staff for treatment. A search of the vehicle revealed a partially smoked cigarette

Death of Miss Joan Vermillion

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Miss Joan Vermillion, formerly of Mount Rainier.  Joan worked for the Mount Rainier Police Department for 28 years as the Records Manager and Dispatcher.  Joan raised her six children in Mount Rainier as a single parent before retiring to Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia.  Joan passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27 th surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
