Police Report: May 22-24

May 22nd:

2900 block of Allison Street: At about 7:30 pm officers responded for a domestic dispute. The female half of the dispute told the officers that the male half had left the residence prior to their arrival. She was not injured. The officers advised her to call back if he returned and of her protective order options should she desire to pursue them.

2700 block of Allison Street: At about 10:50 pm officers took a report of damage to a motor vehicle that occurred the previous night.

3700 block of Shepherd Street: At about midnight officers responded for the sound of shots. The County police also ran the call after receiving a similar report in the area of Volta Avenue in Brentwood. The areas were checked by officers from both agencies with negative results.

May 23rd:

3500 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 5 am officers responded for a report of a fight. When they arrived they found a male and a female engaged in a verbal domestic argument. The officers quelled the disturbance and after determining that neither party was injured advised them of their domestic options and sent both on their way.

34th and Taylor Streets: At about 7:50 pm officers received a call for a vandalism to auto. Upon arrival they spoke to the victim who told them that two black male juveniles threw rocks at his vehicle damaging the right side. Both juveniles fled the area down Cedar Lane Alley and disappeared. A search of the area for failed to locate the two juveniles.

Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road: At about 8:30 pm power shift officers effected a traffic stop on a vehicle for minor traffic violations. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant for driving on a suspended license. When the officers searched him incident to the arrest they discovered that he was in possession of a small bag of marijuana having a street value of $282.00. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville on the warrant and also charged with possession of a CDS. His vehicle was impounded.

3300 block of Buchanan Street: At about 10:15 pm officers received a call to assist Queenstown Security with a trespasser. Further investigation revealed that the subject was in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a criminal citation for the offense.

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 11:45 pm power shift officers patrolling the area saw a man urinating in public. They stopped and identified him and after determining that he was not wanted for other crimes he was issued a criminal citation for public urination and sent on his way.

May 24th:

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 12:15 am officers stopped a 1998 Toyota for minor traffic violations. One of the passengers of the vehicle was found to have an open warrant through Montgomery County for failure to appear on drug related charges. He was arrested and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville without incident. The driver was issued the appropriate traffic citations and sent on his way.

4300 block of Kaywood Drive: At about 2 am officers received a call for a robbery that had just occurred. When the officers arrived the victim told them that he had just parked his vehicle and was walking to his residence when a black male wearing a ski mask approached him from behind and produced a handgun. The masked man demanded the victim’s bag, wallet and car keys. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands whereupon the suspect got into a silver mini van and fled the area. The victim was not injured and a search of the area for the suspect and his vehicle was negative. MPDC communications was notified of the suspect description.

4000 block of 34th Street: At 3:25 pm a volunteer from the Mount Rainier Tool Shed called to report that a resident borrowed a Sears tiller from the Tool Shed on April 13th. When the volunteer contacted the resident to get the tiller back the resident said that it had been stolen from his back yard sometime between April 13th and April 16th but he never reported the theft to police. Since over a moth had transpired since the tiller was stolen there was not much the officers could do except file the appropriate theft report.

Chillum Road & Queenstown Drive: At about 8:40 pm officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Nissan Murano. The driver was found to have an open warrant for driving without a license issued through Prince George’s County. He was arrested and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville without incident. His vehicle was impounded.

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
