Police Report: November 10-12

Tuesday November 10th:

4500 block of 32nd Street: At about 7:15 a.m. officers took a stolen auto report. The victim/owner told the officers that sometime during the previous night someone stole her silver 1998 Honda Civic with Maryland tags 7AKL56. A second 1998 Honda Civic with Maryland tags GWT298 was also reported stolen from the area during the same time frame. A check of the area for witnesses and evidence was negative.

2700 block of Upshur Street: At about 9:20 p.m. officers responded for a citizen robbery. The victim told the officers that while he was entering his residence a black male (described as 5’6” tall, about 180 lbs., wearing a brown hoodie and blue jeans and armed with a shotgun) pointed the shotgun at him and demanded his wallet and money. The victim complied and then suspect fled to a waiting older model full-size black GMC/Chevrolet truck (possibly a Blazer or Tahoe) with a very loud exhaust system. The victim saw that this vehicle was being driven by a second, undescribed individual. The vehicle and suspects fled the area towards Taylor Street. A lookout for the suspects and the vehicle was broadcast to surrounding agencies and PGPD/CID was notified. The victim was not injured in the robbery.

Wednesday November 11th:

3200 block of Chillum Road: At about 8 a.m. officers responded for the report of an intoxicated male. When the officers arrived they located the man who was both intoxicated and suffering from injuries he sustained in a prior physical altercation. Further investigation revealed that he had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County. He was arrested on the warrant and transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Once he was cleared from the hospital he was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3405 Rhode Island Avenue (Eastern Star building): Starting around 7 p.m. the City experienced a major power outage that lasted for about two hours. At about 10 p.m. officers were called to the Eastern Star building to help several elderly attendees get out of the building. They were stranded on the second floor when the buildings chair lift stopped working when the power went out.

Thursday November 12th:

4200 block of 37th Street: At about 8:20 a.m. officers responded for the report of an attempted abduction. The officers’ investigation showed that there was no actual attempt abduction. A male individual in a white Cadillac Escalade attempted to meet a young lady who was not interested in his company.

3200 block of Chillum Road: At about 10 p.m. officers responded to check the welfare of a resident. When they entered the apartment they discovered a female on the floor breathing but unresponsive. Fire/rescue personnel responded and transported the woman to Washington Adventist Hospital for further treatment. No foul play was apparent or suspected.

Community Shredding Day

Please mark you calendars for Saturday July 18th, 2009 for community shredding day. Priority One Shredding of Bowie, Maryland will provide free personal shredding services and secure document destruction from 8 am until 11am at the Bunker Hill Fire Station. Priority One Shredding is a leading provider of personal and business secure document destruction. Residents are welcome to watch their documents being destroyed, and once the shredding process is completed, the remains are locked in the mobile destruction unit until the paper is recycled. Priority One will also provide residents with a variety of identity theft prevention information free of charge. If you miss the community shredding day on July 18th, be sure to bring your bulk documents to National Night Out. Priority One will be onsite from 6-9 pm providing shredding services to residents again, free of charge .
