Police Report: February 12-15

Friday February 12th:

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 11:50 pm officers impounded a vehicle that was double parked, unoccupied, unregistered and displaying tags issued to another vehicle.

Saturday February 13th:

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 3:15 am officers impounded an unattended burgundy Ford Taurus and an unattended block Toyota Sion that were blocking State Highway Administration snow removal contractors clearing snow along Rhode Island Avenue.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 8:45 pm officers on patrol observed two individuals consuming alcohol beverages near the bus stop. Both individuals were issued criminal citations for open container. One of them was found to have two open arrest warrants through Montgomery County for (you may not believe this) open container. He was arrested on the open warrants and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Sunday February 14th:

3100 block of Buchanan Street: At about 5 am officers impounded a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria that had been abandoned in the street blocking traffic.

3400 block of Newton Street: At about 6:3o am officers received a call for an attempted stolen auto. When the officers arrived they discovered that someone had stolen a 1998 Lincoln Town Car sometime between Midnight and 6:20 am. The thieves were unable to get away with the vehicle because the icy road conditions caused them to crash just down the street.

4600 block of 30th Street: At about 2:30 pm officers took a vandalism to auto report. The victim/owner of 2000 Buick told the officers that sometime between 10 pm on February 13th and the time of the report someone slashed one of the car’s tires.

4200 block of 34th Street: At about 2:30 pm officers took a vandalism to auto report. The victim/owner of a 1997 Dodge van told the officers that sometime between 10 pm on February 13th and the time of the report someone slashed one of the car’s tires.

4000 block of 31st Place: At about 11 pm officers received a call for an assault with a knife. The officer’s investigation revealed that the male complainant had met a female on the internet and brought her to his residence with the intent of having sexual relations. When the female decided that she did not want to participate the man panicked and ran out of the residence. He went to a neighbor’s house where he called police and stated that the woman threatened to kill him with a knife. The man gave the officers inconstant stories and was believed to be under the influence of narcotics. Officers assisted the woman in finding safe transportation back to her city of residence.

Monday February 15th:

3100 block of Upshur Street: At about 8:15 am officers took a report of vandalism to auto. The victim/owner showed the officers where someone had put a roughly 15” scratch along the driver’s door. No suspects/evidence could be located.

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 3:45 pm officers took a hit and run accident report. A parked vehicle was struck by a second unknown vehicle and sustained damage to the driver’s side quarter panels. A check of the area for witnesses/evidence was negative.

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
