Police Report: December 20-22

December 20th : 3300 block of Bunker Hill Road (Joe’s Movement) : At about 6:45 pm officers took a report of an attempted theft . The victim told the officers that a man, known to employees only as Brian, came into the building, grabbed her laptop and tried to leave. The victim confronted the man and took her laptop back. He immediately fled the building in an unknown direction. Officers are in the process of trying to get the man’s full identity for potential charges. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 9:30 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation . Further investigation revealed that the driver was not licensed and the tags on the vehicle were suspended for failing to comply with VEIP and a compulsory insurance violation. The driver was issued several State citations, the tags were seized for return to MVA and the vehicle was impounded. Police Report: december 17-19

December 17th : 2800 block of Chillum Road : At about 9 am officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation . Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s registration was suspended for VEIP emission. The driver was issued a state citation and the vehicle was impounded. 3200 block of Varnum Street : At about 2:30 pm took a report of a potential fraud . An elderly female resident told the officers that she received a telephone call and the solicitor asked for her personal information - social security number, banking information and other vital statistics. The home owner gave the caller this information and later told her daughter of the conversation and the daughter called to report the incident to police. MRPD officers contacted the social security administration and the home owner was provided a reference number and information to keep her personal information private in the future. 3600 block of Oak Lane : At about 3:30 pm Code Enforcement officers notified MRPD of a su

December 15th : 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 8:20 am officers responded for the report of a suspicious person loitering in an apartment hallway. The officers were able to locate the man and identified him as one who had been previously banned from the property and arrested by MRPD previously for trespassing on the property. He was arrested again, charged with trespassing and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4200 block of 28th Street : At about 12 pm officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim came into the police station a told officers that someone had stolen the tags (DC ‘JIMMY’) off of his 2005 Nissan Altima. He was referred to DC motor vehicles for replacement tags. 3400 block of Newton Place : At about 5:10 pm officers took a report of a residential burglary . December 13th : 4100 block of 30th Street : At about 9 am officers served an arrest warrant on a subject wanted for failure to appear in court. He was arrested without incident and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : At about 3:50 pm officers received a call for a disorderly subject refusing to leave the business. When they arrived they found a man sitting on the ground cursing and refusing to move. He was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3600 block of Rhode Island Avenue : At about 8:45 pm officers took a report of a vandalism to auto . The victim told the officers that he parked his vehicle at about 7 pm and upon returning to it he discovered that someone had thrown a rock through a window. Police Report: December 10-12

December 10th : 4000 block of 34th Street : At about 9 am officers took a vandalism report. The reporting person, a contractor working on the vacant property, told the officers that he left the property secured and locked on December 9th. When he returned this morning he discovered that someone had damaged the front door lock possibly trying to enter the property. No entry was made because the top dead bolt lock remained secured. A check of the residence revealed no further damage and nothing missing from inside. No additional evidence/witnesses could be located. 4700 block of 31st Place : At about 2:40 pm officers took a hit and run motor vehicle collision report. The victim’s vehicle was legally parked and unoccupied when it was struck by an unidentified vehicle which failed to remain at the scene. The victim’s vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side front and rear door areas. No additional evidence/witnesses could be located. 3200 block of Taylor Street : At about 2:50

When weather conditions warrant the declaration of a snow emergency the City of Mount Rainier follows the District of Columbia, not Maryland or Prince George’s County. Residents should be aware that when a winter weather advisory is announced the chances of a snow emergency being declared is a distinct possibility and you should tune in to news and weather reports for updated information. The Alert DC system is an excellent resource for obtaining emergency information including snow emergency declarations. By signing up for this service, you can receive emergency notifications in a variety of ways such as e-mail, cell phone text message, Blackberry or wireless PDA. Police Report: December 8-9

December 8th : 35th Street & Bunker Hill Road : At about 9:00 am officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim told the officers that he parked and locked his vehicle at about 6 pm on December 7th. When he returned for his vehicle this morning he discovered that someone had smashed out the front passenger window and stolen a wallet and cell phone from inside. No evidence could be recovered and no witnesses were located. 4600 block of 25th Street : At about 4:45 pm officers patrolling the Queen Manor apartment complex smelled the odor of suspected marijuana coming from a laundry room. Investigating further the officers found four individuals in the room, one of whom was smoking marijuana. He was arrested for the crime and a search incident to his arrest revealed that he was in possession of an additional quantity of marijuana. December 6th : 2700 block of Upshur Street : At about 6:30am officers assisted the FBI with executing a search/arrest warrant . The FBI was conducting several warrants across the country at the same time in reference to a drug syndicate. Officers were able to apprehend and arrest the targeted individual without incident. 3300 block of Queenstown Drive : At about 4:40 pm officers took a report of a hit and run motor vehicle collision. The victim’s legally parked vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle which failed to remain and/or leave information at the scene. December 7th : 3249 Rhode Island Avenue : At about 5:15 pm officers arrested a woman on open arrest warrant that had been issued out of Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court. December 3rd : 3800 block of 34th Street : At about 7:30 pm officers took a report of a stolen license plate . The victim told the officers that he last saw his Maryland license plate of 74R309 attached to his Dodge pickup truck on December 2nd at about noon. No evidence or witnesses to the theft were located. December 4th : Queens Chapel Road & Chillum Road : At about 3:55 am officers on patrol observed a man who they knew from prior contacts had an open arrest warrant for failing to appear in court. He was stopped for a field interview and the warrant was confirmed. He was arrested and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 6:40 pm officers took a report of a runaway juvenile. The parents of a 15 year old girl told the officers that their daughter had run away from home because she wanted to go to a party. No foul play is suspected and the juvenile’s information was entered into the NCIC missing person’s database. B

December 2nd : Nothing significant to report. December 3rd (early morning) : 3700 block of Rhode Island Avenue : At about 1:10 am officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation . Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He refused to submit to blood alcohol test. He was charged and released. His vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

Police Report: December 1

4000 block of 29th Street : At about 9 am officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim told the officers that sometime between 1:30 am and 7:30 am this morning someone broke into his work van and stole approximately $1,900 worth of his work tools. A check of the area for evidence/witnesses proved negative. 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 9:45 am officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim told the officers that while she was inside the station paying for gas someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her purse. The station’s surveillance camera was reviewed and a black male dressed in all dark clothing was seen taking the victim’s purse and then fleeing the scene in a silver convertible Nissan 350ZX. A search of the area for the suspect and the vehicle proved negative. 4000 block of 36th Street : At about 10 pm officers took a death report . Police Report: November 30

30 th and Taylor Streets:   At about 1:15 pm officers on patrol observed two parked vehicles both of which were displaying the same license plate. Further investigation revealed that neither vehicle was registered and that one of the vehicles had the front tag of an unregistered license plate and the other was displaying the rear tag of the same unregistered plate. Both vehicle were cited appropriately and impounded.
