Police Report: december 17-19

December 17th:

2800 block of Chillum Road: At about 9 am officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s registration was suspended for VEIP emission. The driver was issued a state citation and the vehicle was impounded.

3200 block of Varnum Street: At about 2:30 pm took a report of a potential fraud. An elderly female resident told the officers that she received a telephone call and the solicitor asked for her personal information - social security number, banking information and other vital statistics. The home owner gave the caller this information and later told her daughter of the conversation and the daughter called to report the incident to police. MRPD officers contacted the social security administration and the home owner was provided a reference number and information to keep her personal information private in the future.

3600 block of Oak Lane: At about 3:30 pm Code Enforcement officers notified MRPD of a suspicious vehicle that had been parked in the block for several days. Officers checked the vehicle's registration and learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen from an address in DC on November 22nd. The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping and the owner and MPD were notified of the recovery.

December 18th:

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 4:15 pm officers took a report of a hit and run motor vehicle collision (MVC). There was no witness information or other evidence with which to identify the striking vehicle.

December 19th:

3200 block of Chillum Road: At about 12:20 am officers conducted a registration check of a vehicle and found the vehicle's registration was suspended and an MVA pick order had been issued for the tags. The officers stopped the vehicle, issued the driver several traffic citations and impounded the vehicle.

3800 block of 34th Street: At about 1:30 pm officers took a report of a theft from auto. The victim told the officers that on December 15th she discovered that someone had broken into her vehicle and stole approximately $4,000 of her personal property. No evidence was collected due to the delay in reporting the incident to police.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 9 pm officers took a report of a vandalism to auto. The victim showed the officers where someone had slashed the tires and damaged his vehicle's windshield wiper blades. No evidence was recovered and no witnesses were located.

Community Shredding Day

Please mark you calendars for Saturday July 18th, 2009 for community shredding day. Priority One Shredding of Bowie, Maryland will provide free personal shredding services and secure document destruction from 8 am until 11am at the Bunker Hill Fire Station. Priority One Shredding is a leading provider of personal and business secure document destruction. Residents are welcome to watch their documents being destroyed, and once the shredding process is completed, the remains are locked in the mobile destruction unit until the paper is recycled. Priority One will also provide residents with a variety of identity theft prevention information free of charge. If you miss the community shredding day on July 18th, be sure to bring your bulk documents to National Night Out. Priority One will be onsite from 6-9 pm providing shredding services to residents again, free of charge .

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description).
