Police Report: December 6-7

December 6th:

2700 block of Upshur Street: At about 6:30am officers assisted the FBI with executing a search/arrest warrant. The FBI was conducting several warrants across the country at the same time in reference to a drug syndicate. Officers were able to apprehend and arrest the targeted individual without incident.

3300 block of Queenstown Drive: At about 4:40 pm officers took a report of a hit and run motor vehicle collision. The victim’s legally parked vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle which failed to remain and/or leave information at the scene.

December 7th:

3249 Rhode Island Avenue: At about 5:15 pm officers arrested a woman on open arrest warrant that had been issued out of Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court. She was delivered to the custody of DOC without incident.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 7:30 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. He refused to submit to further alcohol testing and was arrested and charged with DUI/DWI. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3300 block of Buchanan Street: At about 8 pm officers took a report of a stolen auto. The reporting person came in to the police station to report that a gray 1982 Chevy S10 pickup truck that he had borrowed from its owner had been stolen.

I received this earlier today courtesy of CPL Jim Flynn of the Bladensburg Police Department: For those of you who have a vehicle that has a remote entry device, you may also have a handy burglar/emergency alarm that you probably don’t think about. Most of these remote entry devices have a panic button that activates your vehicle’s security alarm system. Test it. It will activate from almost anywhere inside your house and will keep honking and flashing the lights until either your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the remote entry fob. It works if your vehicle is parked in your driveway or garage. So, the next time you come home for the night and start to put your keys away think of this: Put your car keys beside your bed when you retire for the night.
