June 19 th : 3200 block of Chillum Road : Warrant arrest – 5:30 am. Officers stopped a Metro Access van for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant through the Prince Georges County Sherriff’s Office for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving an uninsured motor vehicle. The driver arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC. The van was released to another staff member from the contract company that operates the van. 3700 block of 37 th Street : Welfare check – 10 pm. Officer responded to check the welfare of an elderly resident who did not have any electric power at his residence. The officers spoke with the man and found him in good health mentally and physically. They also learned that he has not had power for the last month and half due to a conflict with Pepco. June 12 th : 4600 block of 30 th Street : Disorderly arrest – 4:10 am. Officers stopped a group of disorderly and intoxicated individuals. The officers attempted to calm the group and leave the area. All complied with the officers’ requests except for one individual who was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and drinking in public. 3800 block of 33 rd Street : Attempted theft from auto – 5:55 am. The owner of a 1993 Toyota Corolla reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle through the driver’s door and ransacked the interior. There were some minor scratches on the driver’s door window that could not be connected to the incident. This was a story posted on WTOP: ANNAPOLIS, Md. - There are reports of a white van approaching local children three times Thursday, and police are trying to find out if the cases are linked. One case involves a nine-year-old boy who was outside his home on Robin Hood Hill in the Sherwood Forest area of Annapolis. "The child was approached by a white van, apparently possibly a white male subject inside of the van asked him to enter the van so he could take pictures," says Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy. It reportedly happened around noon. The child did not get in the van. The boy's grandmother says she saw the van leaving the area. She says it had dark lettering on the side that mentioned a carpet business. A similar white van was also spotted near Shipley's Choice Elementary School in Millersville Thursday evening. Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) Launches Emergency Contact Information Registry   (GLEN BURNIE, MD – June 13, 2011) --The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) today officially launched an Emergency Contact Information program that will help law enforcement officials notify emergency contacts in the event a person is injured in a vehicle accident and unable to communicate.   The Emergency Contact Information Registry is a database in which holders of a valid Maryland driver’s license or identification card can voluntarily list emergency contact information stored electronically on their driving record.  Valid Maryland driver’s license or state of Maryland identification card holders can provide the name and contact information for one, two, or three persons who they wish to be notified in the event of an emergency.    Individuals may submit their Emergency Contact information online at www.mva.maryland.gov , or via MVA Kiosks...

June 5 th : 4000 block of 33 rd Street : CDS arrest – 12:15 am. Officers responded for the report of disorderly individuals in the roadway. The officers located two subjects sitting in a parked vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the two individuals were in possession of marijuana. The officers were able to arrest one of the two, however the driver fled the scene before officers could take him into custody. They were later able to identify the driver and obtain a warrant for his arrest. 3600 block of Eastern Avenue : Domestic assault – 10 am. Officers were called to the report of a domestic dispute where they discovered a woman who had been severely assaulted by her husband who had fled the scene. The officers assisted the victim with obtaining an arrest warrant for her husband and a protective order. May 29th: Nothing significant to report. May 30th: 3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Open door – 11 am. Officers responded for the report of an open door at the Mount Rainier Library. The officers discovered the front door open. There was no one inside and there were no signs of forced entry or theft.  Attempts to make contact with library officials were negative so, after exhausting all resources the officers purchased a hasp and lock and secured the front door. 4600 block of 29 th Street : Citizen Robbery – 5 pm. The victim told officers that he was outside having a cookout with his family when he was approached by a black male described as wearing a black shirt and army style fatigue shorts. The man asked the victim about the location of a gas station, and then produced a gray colored handgun and threatened to shoot the victim and his child. Officers impounded a 2001 Ford Mustang for expired registration. 3800 block of 32 nd Street : Theft – 6:50 pm. A man described as a black male, approximately 6’1” tall and weighing about 210 lbs. driving a white Chevy Suburban with DC tags approached the victim while he was sitting on his front porch. The victim, thinking the man had a gun went inside. When he came back out he noticed his cell phone, keys and his wallet missing. 3200 block of Shepherd Street : Vehicle impound – 11:55 pm. The owner of a 2007 Honda Pilot reported that someone broke out the driver’s side window and stole a Pioneer GPS/DVD player. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : Domestic assault – 7:45 pm. A man was arrested for 2nd degree domestic assault after striking his female partner during an argument. May 9th : 37th Street and Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant arrest – 5:20 pm. A man was arrested on an open arrest warrant issued through Montgomery County for violation of a peace order. 3300 block of Chauncey Place : Vandalism to auto – 11:25 am. 4200 block of 34 th Street : Unfounded vandalism – 7 pm. Officers responded for the report of vandalism. The officers spoke with a resident who believed that a broken window in his apartment was caused by an act of vandalism. The officers determined that the window was actually broken by overgrown shrubs and not by a criminal act.

Further investigation revealed that the victim’s granddaughter was withdrawing funds from the account without authorization. Charges against the granddaughter are pending. 2700 block of Webster Street : Stolen vehicle – 3:20 pm. The owner of a 1999 Ford F-450 truck told officers that he parked his truck in front of his sister’s apartment at about 6 pm on May 1st. When he returned to the vehicle this afternoon he discovered that it had been stolen. 30th and Allison Streets : Narcotics arrest – 8:20 pm. Officers stopped a 2006 Nissan Altima for multiple traffic violations. Further investigation revealed that the driver and passenger were both in possession of marijuana. April 14th : 3200 block of Queenstown Drive : Vandalism – 7:50 pm. The resident told officers that his younger son was sitting in the living room when a rock was thrown through the living room window. The son ran to the window and observed an unknown black male running away between the buildings. 4200 block of Rainier Avenue : Motor vehicle collision – 9:30 pm. Officers responded for the report of a multiple vehicle collision. Their investigation revealed that the driver of the at fault vehicle failed to pay full time and attention to his driving and was driving at a speed greater than reasonable and prudent for the road conditions. As a result the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck two parked cars. The driver was issued three State traffic citations and his vehicle was impounded. 2900 block of Arundel Road : Traffic – 10:20 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a license. He was arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3800 block of 34th Street : Traffic – 2:30 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a license. The co-owner of the vehicle who was a passenger in the vehicle also did not have a license. The driver was issued the appropriate State citations and the vehicle was impounded.

Further investigation revealed that a passenger in the vehicle had an open arrest warrant through Montgomery County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4300 block of Russell Avenue : Criminal citation – 2:50 am. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed an open container of an alcoholic beverage accessible to the driver and he had a suspended license. The driver was issued a criminal citation for the alcohol violation and a State citation for driving on a suspended license. 3300 block of Otis Street : Theft from auto – 7 am. 4000 block of 35th Street : Warrant arrest – 8 pm. Officers on patrol observed an individual who they knew had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for possession with the intent to distribute narcotics and violation of probation. The individual was arrested without incident and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4000 block of 36th Street : Child abuse/neglect – 11:15 pm. Officers were flagged down by a man who reported finding his four year old daughter left unattended locked in an apartment. Further investigation revealed that the child’s mother left the little girl alone in an apartment so she could go out to a night club. Officers contacted the mother and requested that she return to the apartment. When she arrived she was arrested and charged with child abuse and leaving her child unattended. The child was not injured and was in good health. Child protective services was contacted and will be conducting their own investigation.

April 19th : 3700 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Warrant arrest – 12:15 am. Officers observed an individual with whom they have had repeated contacts in the past. The officers checked the man for warrants and learned that he had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license. The officers stopped and arrested and delivered him to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4300 block of Newton Place : Hit and run motor vehicle collision/narcotics arrest – 1:34 am. Officers responded for the report of a man down. Upon arrival they discovered a man lying on the ground complaining of injuries from being struck by a vehicle. The officers also found a parked Nissan Xterra with damage consistent with a hit and run collision. The officers’ investigation revealed that the incident resulted from a drug deal gone awry. 38 th and Quincy Streets : Narcotics/warrant arrest – 7:15 pm. Officers stopped a 2000 Mazda for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that both the driver and his passenger had open arrest warrants through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on charges of driving without a license. The two were removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest for the warrants. A search incident to arrest revealed that both men were in possession of marijuana with a collective weight of 12.4 grams. The two were charged with possession of marijuana and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue : Hit and run motor vehicle collision – 11:35 am. The driver of a 2006 Honda truck told officers that as she was slowing down to enter the traffic circle she was rear ended by a Ford pickup truck. After the collision the Ford truck fled the scene north on Rhode Island Avenue. The victim’s vehicle sustained only minor damage and was drivable after the collision. The driver of the Ford truck could not be located. 3300 block of Buchanan Street : Stolen auto – 12 pm. The owner of a 1999 Dodge Intrepid reported that his vehicle was stolen on April 17th. He was unable to report the theft on the day that it occurred because he had just purchased the vehicle at an auction and all of the vehicle’s identifying paperwork was in the vehicle when it was stolen. 4200 block of 31st Street : Attempt theft from auto - 11:25 am.
