Police Report: November 10

Monday November 10:

3300 block of Otis Street: At about 8 am officers responded for the report of a residential burglary. The victim told the officers that person(s) unknown forced entry into his home through the basement door. Once inside the individuals stole various items valued at approximately $1,300. The scene was processed with negative results and PGPD detectives were notified for a follow-up investigation.

4100 block of 30th Street: At about 12:30 pm a resident called MRPD to advise that unknown individual obtained funds from his credit union account without authorization from him. The victim contacted his credit union to report the unauthorized transaction and then contacted MRPD to file a report. The officers provided the victim with a police case number and forwarded the information to the PGPD County Financial Crimes unit for follow-up investigation.

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 12:40 pm officers on patrol observed a subject drinking an alcoholic beverage in public. The individual was issued a criminal citation and sent on his way without further incident.

3200 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 3:10 pm officers on patrol observed a subject drinking an alcoholic beverage in public. The individual was issued a criminal citation and sent on his way without further incident.

Bunker Hill Road & 34th Street: At about 7 pm officers responded for a report of an attempted citizen robbery. The victim told the officers that she was walking home when she saw a suspicious male walking behind her. When she looked back at the man she saw him reach into his waistband, remove a handgun and point the gun in her direction. The victim became very afraid and ran home as fast as she could. The victim delayed reporting the incident for approximately 30 minutes due to a language barrier. The victim described the man as a black male, 5’7” tall, 140 lbs., wearing a gray sweatshirt, a black mask/hood and armed with a black handgun. A search of the area for the individual was negative and PGPD robbery detectives were notified for follow-up.

3700 block of Bunker Hill Road: At about 7:50 pm officers observed suspicious male who was known to the officers from previous encounters as not a Mount Rainier resident. The individual was stopped and interviewed. During the course of the interview an NCIC check revealed that the individual was wanted on an open warrant through Prince George’s County for failure to appear on a trespassing charge. The individual was arrested and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4700 block of 31st Place: At about 8:30 pm officers responded for the report of an out of control disorderly juvenile. From previous encounters the officers knew that the juvenile has a history of mental illness and is currently under medical care and medication. The juvenile was threatening family members with bodily harm and told the officers that he wanted to die and asked if they would shot and kill him. The officers declined his request for numerous moral, legal and ethical reasons and instead arrested him and transported him to Washington Adventist Hospital for an emergency psychological evaluation.

3500 block of Bunker Hill Road: At about 9:50 pm officers responded for the report of a pocket book snatch. The victim told the officers that, as she was about to get into her vehicle, an individual accosted her and tried to pull her purse off her shoulder. She said she struggled to keep the purse but it fell to the ground. The individual went into the purse, removed a wallet, and threw the purse back at victim. The individual then fled north on Bunker Hill Road. Check of area for the individual was negative and PGPD robbery detectives were notified for follow-up.

3200 block of Chillum Road: At about 10:30 pm officers were notified by an anonymous caller of a purse left abandoned in a second level stairwell. The officers located the purse and delivered it to MRPD’s secure property storage until an owner can be identified.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
